Braxton Hicks vs. the baby kicking?

I'm almost 29 weeks with my first and just curious...will I know it's a Braxton Hicks contraction once I begin experiencing them? I'm feeling a ton of the baby kicking and some other strange aches - and wondering if I'm just assuming it's all the baby kicking when it's really some BH contractions?

How do BH contractions feel vs. the baby kicking?

    That is too funny!! I was just reading about the exact same thing in my google search! I am 29 weeks 1 day and just a few days ago started getting BH's. It feels like a tightening/squeezing feeling in everything at and below my belly button (sometimes slightly above) Things like walks, cleaning, full bladder, standing from a sitting position bring it on. I feel like I get it all the time now. I was confused at first but decided that if it is LO pressing out it is just in one area etc. I also have a Dr. apt tomorrow so I am going to ask. Not sure if that helps but your not alone!

    I still get confused at times! The only way I know the difference is that the BHs last longer and don't let up after just a second. I can also feel the top and bottom of my stomach and it's hard when it's a BH (opposed to just one spot when it's baby moving).

    For me i feel braxton hicks above my belly button ( just the way I am my doctor says) for me they feel like the baby is laying sideways and jsut pushing it's feet and hands on each of my sides.  It's uncomfortable but not enough for me to stop what i'm doing, but enough for me to put my hands there adn be like.. what are you doing baby? lol

    I've been having BH since about 23 weeks, and I am now starting to have a hard time distinguishing them from the baby kicking. BH feel like a tight squeeze or a calf cramp without the pain (though some BH can hurt).

    for me it's really obvious.  With BH my entire belly gets rock hard for 30+ seconds.  When it's just baby moving and pressing against the outside, it's only in that one spot where her back/butt is.

    OK, thanks ladies! I think I am having them - especially when I feel a strong ache on both sides of my belly that last longer than the occasional kick! I'm really going to be paying extra attention now to try to distinguish the difference between the BH & the baby kicking (I love feeling it all!) Sleep

    Belly will get hard, sometimes I get back pain with them and it will feel more like a tightening pressure rather than a kick.  Very, very different sensations.
