Should I still see my PCP for a Yearly physical?

I'm 23 weeks pregnant and currently seeing an OBGYN. Should I still go to my yearly physical with my PCP?

  • Your OBGYN should be taking care of everything you need right now.  I would schedule one for 6-8 weeks after your baby arrives instead.

  • My OB told me that until delivery I call them and see them for everything. Then again, I am one of those bad people that never gets a yearly physical and only goes to my PCP when I'm sick...
  • So how do I go about getting a doctor set up for my baby when it's born? I want the baby to go to the same PCP that I see (she's a family practitioner)  but I'm confused as to how this process works. I haven't seen her since I got pregnant since I've just been going to my OBGYN...so I haven't been able to ask her.

That should be as simple as a phone call to the office. Tell them when you are due. They will likely just tell you to call once baby arrives (as long as they are accepting new patients).
