Hey everyone! I still haven't seen this movie, but I have heard all the spoilers. This weekend I am going home to San Diego for a Spa Night with my Mom and all my high school girlfriends. Someone suggested we watch this movie, but I was already thinking this might not be a good idea. They all know we are suffering from IF (to different extents), and they are all great women but they haven't been through it. I am afraid watching this movie will make me emotional, and will reinforce the idea that we should just stop trying/adopt and we will get pregnant. Damn media! Am I over-thinking this or should I suggest another movie? My friends are awesome, but I am afraid watching this movie will bring up some unwanted advice/discussion. TIA!
Re: To watch or not - Sex & the City Movie?
I vote "watch it!" :-) I didn't even watch the series, but I went to see it with a friend of mine (after she gave me a recap of the show over dinner) and I really liked it. I cried my eyes out, but not because of Charlotte's story. It was a great "girlfriend" movie.
Have fun in San Diego! I'm jealous... a spa night sounds SO fun!!
You know, it depends on your mood. I've seen it twice, and I absolutely loved it! But, I will admit at that part in the movie I did get a little emotional and cried. But, I have to say other parts of the movie made me cry, too!
My friends and my mom were completely understanding and overall, I am really glad I saw it.
It was emotional for me and my friend (my only IRL friend who dealt with IF).
Are your mom and friends supportive or do they try to give you just relax advice? If yes, find another movie.
Or you can use it as a teaching moment and say that only like .8% couples actually get pregnant after suffering from IF.
If go with not watching, here are some chick flick recs
Love Actually, The Holiday, Pride and Prejudice (kiera knigthley version)

No one is unsupportive, but my Mom and SIL are the only ones who know details. My Mom is my best friend and is extremely supportive, but she is also of the "life goes on" mentality. I am just afraid because none of them have been there so they don't "get it". You know?
If I am feeling brave and open, I may just warn them beforehand that movies are not a realistic portrayal of IF so please don't get any wrong ideas.
Thanks for the suggestions for the other movies!
You are very welcome. I hope you have a great time, I love to spa.

Watch it!! For pete's sake it's ENTERTAINMENT! Yes, it's sweet, funny, sad, and of course, unrealistic, as ALL tv shows and movies are.
Enjoy, hon!
