Maternity Suiting Separates?

I need at least one suit for work.  Any suggestions for the best maternity suiting separates?

Re: Maternity Suiting Separates?

  • I had a really hard time finding a maternity suit I liked enough to pay actual money for during my last pg so I bought separate jackets (not maternity) that looked ok unbuttoned (not your usual style suit) and wore those.  I can still wear the jackets when I'm not pregnant and just button them.  Bought mine at Ann Taylor. Good luck.

  • I had a horrible time with this last pregnancy. I think I tried on every suit at Motherhood, Mimi Maternity, Pea in the Pod and any other speciality maternity shop I could find, with no luck (or I didn't want to spend $250 on a freaking maternity jacket). Finally I just bought some piece-of-crap jacket from Target and honestly, it was fine enough for those days I had to wear a suit. No one really cares what the pregnant lady is wearing to the meeting at the end of the day, thankfully.

  • I got one at JCPenney and found a suit jacket and some skirts at Motherhood that I rotate.

  • I am a plus-sized attorney so finding suiting was a must and presented a particular challenge. Every pair of suit pants I found were made from terrible polyester that looked flammable. I ended up buying a couple of pairs of suiting pants from Jones New York and having my tailor install a maternity panel.

I can still wear my jackets open and have purchased a couple of swingy cardigans to wear as suit jacket substitute when I can no longer wear a real jacket. I have been advised by some peers who have had babies that when I get to the point I can't wear a suit jacket, no one is going to say anything if I am wearing a dressy cardigan and blouse.

    Hope this helps!

  • Thanks everyone for the advice!
