My child will forever have a stupid halloween birthday party!

I was talking to my DH the other day and I said, "she is going to have a Halloween party every year for her birthday now...ugh".   I wish she was born in Sept or even Nov.  I'm not a crazy Halloween celebrator I think it's kinda dumb the whole idea. When she is young she will always have a costume party because it will always be so close to the 31st,  and I don't even want to think about how she will celebrate when she is say ...18...or 21... we all know how girls are these days lol especially with the sexy costumes and what not... I'm silly I know...I have too much time on my hands to be thinking of all this stuff.

  • Why will your kid have to have a halloween birthday? Even if her birthday is Halloween that doesn't mean you HAVE to have a Halloween birthday.

  • My birthday is Oct 25.  When I was younger all of my bday parties were Halloween parties, my mother loves Halloween.  I hated it!  I finally started rebelling in the 2nd grade... I never had a Halloween bday party after that!   Trust me, she will want other themes.

  • FWIW, my bday is the day after Halloween and I never had a Halloween themed bday party growing up.  Not once.  It is what you make it, and there is no reason a baby born in late Oct can't have the same type of party someone born in July would (ok, maybe not a pool party...but still).

I will admit, however, that it was a ton of fun to go to other peoples costume parties on Halloween in my early 20s and get to celebrate my bday there...but I can't say I ever wore a sexy this or that costume to those.

  • One of our nieces has her birthday on Halloween.  Her past 2 birthday parties were 2 weeks before her birthday & involved a pumpkin patch & a farm w/ corn maze & other fall harvest activites.  I wouldn't be opposed to a Halloween theme, but there's a lot of other options in the fall :)  Plus, when they're in high school, it might be easier to just pile up a few of lo's friends & take them to a haunted hay ride!

  • Lol my FI is hoping LO is born on Halloween so that she can have a Halloween themed birthday every year. He thinks it would be awesome because his last (and her future last name) is Coffin.

No matter when LO is born no one says you have to give her a Halloween party every year and as far as her wanting one I doubt that will be the case I don't think any kid wants the same party every year regardless of the theme.

I was born in early December and still had way too many Christmas themed parties, presents, etc and I HATED it, it got old fast and I would not have chosen it if given the option. I'm just glad LO there is no chance of LO being born in December, I have decided it is the worst month ever to be born lol.

  • even thought my doctor won't induce me until the 30th, there is still a chance that LO will NOT be born on the 31st. I was hoping to not have a holiday baby...but if it does happen there is nothing I can do about it. But I have already had the discussion with SO that I would prefer not to have a costume or Halloween themed birthday for our child.....EVER. Until he/she is able to tell us what kind of party theme....we will just pick random themes. After that...he/she can decide on the theme. And we will be celebrating the birthday either the weekend before or the weekend after....not to entirely avoid the actual birthday, but because people are usually busy and I would hate to have a party and have nobody show because they already had "Halloween plans".....I would be so sad for my LO if that happened!

  • My birthday is Halloween and while I did have a few costume parties, most of my birthday parties were different.  Your child can do whatever she wants to celebrate her birthday.

If its what she wants, I don't see the problem. This never even crossed my mind as a problem....

This.  I doubt that she'll want the same thing every year, and if she does, it's her birthday after all.  I think you're way overthinking this.....
