Re: sleeping in swing at night

  • I wondered the same thing, as my DD didnt like sleeping in her bassinet!! I put her in the swing and she was out! I let it rock her to sleep and then shut it off so she wouldnt get used to it going all night long. To my suprise I've met several mothers who have done this!!!

  • I only have DD take naps in her swing and then put her in her crib at night.  I just can't sleep well when she's not in her nursery with the door closed, but that's because we have pets and I don't want them to bother her.  If the swing is near you I don't see why she couldn't sleep in the swing at night.

  • It's okay to let them sleep there and I think most people keep it moving.

  • When LO was about 3-6 weeks old, there were nights that he'd only sleep in his swing.  The swing is in the living room so I would sleep on the couch so he could see me and I could see him. I'd keep it swinging. Don't worry about them getting too used to the swing. My LO now does all his napping (aside from cat naps) and night time sleeping in his crib with no problem.

  • Do what works best for you for now but I wouldn't continue it past 12 weeks.
