I think a couple of people have mentioned getting their kids to sleep later in the morning by putting a night light on a timer and telling LO that it's "sleep time" until the light comes on. If you did this, could you share where you got your light and how long it took for LO to understand the concept? M has always been an early riser, but I cannot deal with the pre-5 am wake-ups that have been happening this week. Mama needs sleep!
Re: DCtoLowCountry and others: Night lights with timers?
I haven't started this with DD yet (she's still sleeping until 7a--knock on wood!) but a friend of mine got it for her DD. It's the Good Nite Lite and it is a moon at night and turns into a yellow sun at whatever time you set it. The sun is the cue for the child that it's okay to wake up.

i have a programmable timer i bought from target (i use it for growing seedlings though). you plug the timer into the wall, and then the (any) lamp into the timer. it's got a wheel that does the timing.
i'm thinking that i may need to get another one for sprout, though. some days he'll all about the early wakeup (and why are these days usually weekends?!?!)
we have the tot clock, DD just turned 3 and only in the last 2-3 weeks has she gotten the concept of "don't get up until the clock is yellow" and even though she "gets" it, she still does not always want to stay in bed/her room until it's yellow (this is only an issue on weekends).
i just started lying to DS about what day of the week it was. it worked for a while, but soon he was on to my tricks.
now, he is old enough to be reasoned with. i tell him that mommy and daddy really want to stay sleeping and he can either play with audrey (but only if she is already awake) or he can go downstairs and watch tv (this is a treat, since he is not allowed to watch on weekdays).
will have to look into this tot clock or timer thing for audrey! sounds neat!
