Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Anyone's LO not have 4 month wakeful?

I've been hearing so much about this lately and am wondering if anyone's baby sailed right through their 4th month w/ no change in sleeping patterns. LO is 3 months and I'm hoping we don't deal with this!

  • I didn't experience this with either of my boys.

  • We're closer to 5 months now and haven't had any disturbances in normal sleep. A few nights he's woken up a couple times about 30 minutes after we put him down and then STTN after that... and a few times he's woken up an hour earlier than usual but that's about it for us.... thank goodness!

p.s. I was terried too and looked it up and it seems to hit BF babies more than FF and ours is FF so I relaxed a little bit after that... also we use a sleep positioner that keeps him from rolling over so that might help...normally I'd let him roll around in the crib but he only knows to roll one direction (front to back and back to front but to the right only) so he ends up stuck on the crib instead of going back and forth.

  • I didn't experience her sleeping get worse, but she still wakes 1-3x a night  to eat.  She goes right back to sleep after though.
  • No changes here.

DS went through a growth spurt right around 4 months, so we added an extra bottle in the evening before bed. He no longer needed the extra bottle after a couple weeks.

  • Mine slept better in his 4th month.  He is FF.

  • You all give me hope. I have an EXCELLENT sleeper and we FF, so hopefully we breeze right through this!

  • We hadn't had any problems until a couple days ago (see my post below) when she decided to get up at 4-4:30 every morning.  The difference is that we used to have to wake her up at 6-6:30.  I'm hoping that it is temporary & maybe just because she had been sick last week or something.  I feel for those who experienced this type of thing for a month or so!

We sailed right through 4 months with no change in my DD's sleep. She has been STTN for months now. BUT...the last week or so, she has been wanting to get up around 3 or 4 and occasionally will want to eat but can usually be put back down with a pacifier.
  • I had never even heard of the 4 month wakeful until the Nest, but no, we did not experience this. We only had a few days when DD wanted to wake in the middle of the night to eat but that was due to a growth spurt.

  • my DS just turned 4 months on sunday and tuesday he woke up at 4:30am to eat, wednesday it was 1:30am, thursday at 3:30 am and then this morning i think it was 4am im hoping he grows out of this soon, he has been sttn since he was about 2 months old.
  • Bottle fed babies don't experience 4MW as often or as severe, from what I have read.
