pack your hospital bag and install your car seat?
With all these posts about preterm labor, I'm starting to wonder exactly when I should start preparing!
sorry if this has been already discussed recently. I tried to look back several weeks to catch up on what I've missed while I've been MIA but didn't see anything.
Thanks ladies!
Re: When do you plan to
I'm packing my bag around 37 or 38 weeks.
I'm getting the car seat installed ASAP. Honestly, I just want it in my car so it's out of my house. I know it's early.
Breastfeeding and pregnant!
This. I have been walking around that carseat for a couple of weeks now. I need to get the hubby on installing it and out of the nursery.
36ish weeks, around Thanksgiving for both. We live close to the hospital so I can always have H run back for something, or to put the carseat in.
preterm labor is freaking me out too.. i have DH doing all the projects around the house we thought we had time to finish, ordered my replacement parts for my pump, washed all the clothes i already have & bought her mattress. My shower isnt until November so Im like uhh all the other craps on the registry what do i do now? but anything thats not im getting now & all the stuff I'll need for after but wont be able to go out to get (plus packing the hospital bag this weekend)
he thinks im crazy but im always one to be prepared for everything
I will probably pack my bag at about 36-37 weeks. If I went into PTL then I could always have a friend, my mom or DH get some things around for me.
As for the carseat, it is on our registry and I have my 1st shower this weekend, the second on Nov 6th and the third on Nov 13th, so we are hoping to recieve this as a gift, if not we will purchase it after the shower and install the base in my vehicle immediately after we get it.

I'm thinking this, too. I haven't had my shower yet, so there's no car seat to install.
Probably the first week of December for packing my bag.
The second week of December for installing the car seat. By then I'll be done with commuting. With the way traffic is around here, I'm shocked I haven't gotten rear-ended multiple times, so I want to wait until the chances are slimmer that I'll be in an accident.

Want to hear something funny - my hubby had absolutely NO idea that he had to install the carset ahead of time!!!!!!!!!!! I brought this up to him and he was totally like WTF?!? I told him they won't let us leave with the baby unless it's properly installed
what was he thinking!?! I'm just going to hold her in my arms all the way home? HAHAHA
My shower isn't until the 2nd week of Nov, but I recieved a carseat/base early! (from a dear friend who is currently living in Hong Kong and won't be at my shower...He wasn't sure when I was due so he went ahead and picked out a BEAUTIFUL Chicco set (he REALLY did his research!) and had it sent to me! It was a total surprise when I recieved 2 huge boxes last week - I couldn't even carry it...Very excited though..my 1st baby gift <33 And now I can check that off of my registry list!)
Anyways....I was thinking of packing my hospital bag in Nov....I'm sooo afraid of going into labor earlier than my due date and then not have my bag prepared....better safe than sorry! Plus, I'm sure as my date creeps closer, my mind will be on 1000 other things.

I need to pack my bag soon. The problem is I'm on bed rest and need dh's help on so many things, that is just not the top of the list. Also, a lot of my clothes that I am bringing to the hospital, I've been wearing around the house so they all need washed and I don't want to put all my comfy clothes in a bag where I can't use them.
Carseat is going in as soon as someone gives my car a good cleaning. Again, I would do this but bed rest forbids it. So, whenever someone else can help me out.
The car seat was installed last weekend because I heard it might be a bit complicated with my car and I wanted to get it out of the way, although I'm just leaving the base in the car until d-day. Thankfully we got it figured out. Still need to get it inspected though.
The bag I am less worried about, although I do need to at least make a packing and shopping list soon. We live 6 minutes from the hospital and plan to labor at home for a while, so I'm not too worried about having every single little thing ready. Having a list ready will at least allow DH to do most of the packing at the last minute if need be.
I was just telling DH yesterday that we honestly have the bare necessities ready for LO... carseat installed, clothing, diapers, a sleeping space and my boobs! The rest is just gravy! Haha.
I told DH I want the carseat in by 36 weeks. I will be done babysitting then, so we won't need the extra convertible seat in the car, and we had one just before 36 weeks once, so I want to be prepared. As far as a hospital bag, I'll throw in the baby's things (outfits, onesies, hats, etc.), but nothing of mine will go in till we are going to the hospital. I had way too much stuff when I packed ahead of time the first time, and it worked out better for us with DS to throw what we need in the bag while waiting for the sitter. I had a scheduled induction with #3, so I packed most of it the night before, then threw my toiletries in when we left that morning. We live less than a mile from the hospital, so if we need anything else, DH will run home for it.
