I'm unfortunately new here. I would have been 10.5 weeks pregnant today, but found out this afternoon that our LO stopped developing at 8.6 weeks. We had heard the heartbeat at 6.2 weeks, so we were very optimistic. I have a d/c scheduled for Monday, but I am hoping I naturally miscarry between now and then. This was our first pregnancy.
I also have fibroids, which as far as they can tell from the u/s were not a factor in this miscarriage. I am curious if anyone else has had fertility issues with fibroids? We knew we were high risk, but were definitely optimistic after the 6 week u/s.
We are still in shock, yet quite sad. I know the miscarriage rates are high but that doesn't lessen the hurt. I am happy to have found this board to help me through it.
Re: New to this board
I am so sorry for your loss.
We found out at our first u/s last week that our baby had died the week before...being on this board, hearing from other women, has really helped me. Know that you are not alone.
I'm so sorry for you loss.
I found out on Monday that I had a blightened Ovum, I had a D&C yesterday. For me it was the right choice, I don't think I could have handled the waiting and the actual miscarriage... Like PP said this board has helped me so much in the short time I've been here.

I am so sorry for your loss. My best wishes and prayers are with you and your family. I started to miscarry on Saturday after finding out on Wednesday that my pregnancy was not viable. I, too, have fibroids and they were not responsible for my miscarriage. However, due to size of the fibroids and their rate of growth, there was concern that the fibroids would either grow too large and not allow the fetus enough space to grow or the baby would draw blood away from the fibroids and cause severe pain. As I think about it, as much as I wanted my pregnancy, I would have spent most of it worried about the fibroids and their impact on my baby.
I am scheduling a myomectomy as soon as we are able to determine when my period is back to normal. With the myomectomy, the doctor removes the fibroids through a C-section cut. Although the healing time is longer than other types of removal procedures (6 weeks), it is the safest way of preserving fertility. This time around, I intend to do everything I can to make sure that my body is prepared for pregnancy.
I'm so sorry for your loss and that you find yourself here. My BFF has a couple of very large fibroids. They did cause a few complications (she ended up wit 5 mo of pelvic rest with her first), but she delivered perfect, healthy babies with close monitoring and a few extra precautions.
T&P for you and your family for peace and fast healing from this loss.

Thank you all for your support. Today is actually tougher than yesterday. My parents sent a bouquet of flowers and I almost wished they hadn't. Even though they meant well, I just want it to be over so I can focus on healing and moving forward. I'm really struggling with wanting to miscarry naturally and the d&c. If I can get to Monday there's a chance that I might have some answers and prevent this from happening again.
I hate that we're all here and I am so sorry for all of your losses. (((hugs))) to all of you.
