  I'd let him sleep unswaddled on his belly.  I know it's scary but it seems like that is what he's itching to do. if he can lift his head good than i'm sure he'll be fine. my son started belly sleeping at that age and it made a huge difference with his sleep, good luck!

  i agree with PP, ONLY if you have the angelcare. Otherwise i personally would be too scared to do that. But with the angelcare, i would feel aittle better doing that.

   also, have you tried the woombie or swaddle pod? Thats the only swaddler that works for my LO.

  I am dealing with this, too... DD fought the swaddle for 2 HOURS last night. I finally gave in, took it off and put her in the swing. Ugh.  She sleeps SO much better when swaddled...when she finally gets to sleep.  It's so frustrating!

  How many times is he waking up at night? You say a "few"... it could have nothing to do with the swaddle. He could be cold, hungry, etc. If you think he's strictly waking up because of the swaddle, I would get the Miracle Blanket. It's like the escape-proof swaddle, but it might be harder to get out of because the arm pieces are attached. My baby is a houdini and he can't get out of it. I've also heard people rave about the Magic Sleep Suit, which is a way to transition out of the swaddle. It is not a swaddler but reduces some of those jerky movements that startle them awake. I wouldn't put my baby to sleep on his belly either, so that's what I would try.

  What about the swaddle strap? We've found that's the only thing LO can't get out of and the best part is that you don't have to unswaddle his arms for diaper changes in the middle of the night. My LO would never sleep unswaddled at night either so I feel your pain. GL!

  My little one would love to tummy sleep to but I won't let her, and she kicks out of every swaddle item on the market except one, the swaddle pod by summer. It is a tshirt material that zips up and has two zippers so you don't have to undo the entire swaddle to change the nightime diapers.   I am just so confused if I should continue to try to swaddle him or if I should start to wean him. Decisions decisions....
