PSA about sharing personal info

I know it is common sense to be careful about sharing personal information publicly somewhere such as TB, but I just thought it was a good time for a reminder.  For the most part, we are all who we say we are, but you really never know.  Make sure you only share things such as your Facebook profile with other bumpies you know and trust (or else share it at your own risk).

*ETA: I responded to the above post with a link to a thread from the April board, where a "pregnant teen named Halee" was recently outed as a troll after she called another April mom whose phone number she got from Facebook.*

Again, I just want to say that I am not accusing SnowyPumpkinQueen or anyone else of being anything but legit.  I'm just pointing out some coincidences I noticed and letting everyone know so they can use their own judgement about how much they are willing to share.

I hope I don't look paranoid, but I know I'm not the only one.

    Agreed. I learned the hard way several years ago that people can do crazy things and watch you and do things when you least expect it.

    You're not paranoid, you're smart.

     You shouldn't have an private information on any social networking site whether its FB, Twitter, The Bump, or even a personal blog.

    I work in law enforcement and I've seen people do amazing things with websites and accounts that you would think are locked up tight. Everything on the internet is accessible by anyone with some computer knowledge.

    I thought all of her posts were weird...I didn't realize it was the same person, but every time I read one of her posts, I didn't respond.  Thanks for posting this.

    By the way, how do you block someone on the bump?

    Go to any one of their posts, and it says "block" on the lower left-hand side.  Just click it.

    Wait, so is Snowypumpkinqueen and this Mamaboden the same person? When she intro'd she said her name is Halee...Also, she mentioned something on our board about an April Mom's club...

    The way I see it, if someone has multiple screen names it doesn't help to block someone because if they want to find out something on you, they'll use a different screen name.  I could be wrong.

    Wow! I am really impressed with the detective work you ladies have done!

    I thought something was up, so I just started ignoring her posts. I never thought to go check it out more deeply. Good work.

    Wow. I always thought something was a bit off with her. I also find it interesting that she responds to EVERY.SINGLE.POST.  except the ones where people are questioning her actions/calling her out.

    Ah very good points. I think I will block her. Another point is has she ever responded to all of the negative posts that have been put up about her? That throws up a huge red flag for me too. I read almost all of the posts wether I have input or not. I don't know just weird!

    This stuff has been happening for years. Trolls have stolen siggy pics and created stories and stolen things off of FB and other sites. It's a sick thing but it's part of the deal when you put so much info into your siggy. Blog links, Etsy links etc. It doesn't take a genius to find out more.

    Hence the reason there are no personal pictures in my siggy or personal links or information. :)

    I second this! And FYI. changing the file name by embedding your name in the picts file name will NOT help! I remember someone suggesting this at the beginning part of forming this board and just wanted to let everyone know that to copy someone else's pict, all one has to do is hit "print screen" and then open up Paint and hit "paste," crop out the areas around the desired pict and then click "save"--voila! A person has now just saved your pict for their own personal use! Another thing that concerns me making the onesie exchange more secure bc in order for the onesie exchange to be successful, aren't all participants suppose to provide addresses of where to mail the packages???? Finally, her spelling of "Halee" is not the common way to spell Haley, and for this same uncommon spelling to happen TWICE is odd, to me, or a strange coincidence... (I don't even know how to spell the name myself but I have usually always seen a "y" in it.) Just my two-cents

    I'm sorry but I don't know why someone would even accept someone on their Facebook they don't know. I never accept anyone I don't know, not even if it's someone with the same last name and might be a distant family member, fact is I don't know them. Or a friend of a friend I won't accept. I like to come on here and read the blogs and participate in commenting, and I enjoy seeing great news and sharing, but facts is we don't know who could be real or fake.
