Antique White Crib/Ikea dresser

I'm working on choosing the nursery furniture and I thought I was all set with the Graco Lauren crib in white and the Ikea Hemnes dresser in white.  But then I realized that the dresser is a creamy white/antique white and the crib is bright white.

Do any of you have any suggestions on cribs that come in antique white?  I know Pottery Barn has them but I'd like to stay closer to the $200 price point.  Or for those of you with either a white crib or the Ikea dresser what piece did you get to match?

I appreciate all your help! :)

PS - My other option was black furniture but I'm finding that cribs and dressers in black are more pricey if I can find them at all.  Suggestions for those are welcome!

  • We are purchasing the Ikea Hemnes dresser in brown-gray and will paint it the exact white we want. Also, the white version is not solid wood, while the other colors are (for the same price). It's another option if you don't mind painting.

  • Oh, that's good info!  I hadn't thought of that at all.  DH hates painting but he'll already have the white out to repaint the ceiling so.... :-)
  • We have the white Gulliver crib and the white Hemnes dresser.  They are not side by side, so you cannot notice the difference.

  • We have the hemnes white dresser and it looks bright white to me.  We have ours with a slate iron crib, but still....

  • We have a white crib and the Ikea dresser.  It does bother me a little that the whites don't match, but I'm a little OCD about that sort of thing, and most people wouldn't notice.  Once we put the changing pad on top of the dresser and accessorized the whole room, it stopped looking so obvious to me.  We even have a small nursery, so the two pieces are fairly close together.

  • You could check Walmart.com. They have very reasonably priced nursery furniture, and you might be able to find something in the exact color you're looking for.

  • You could always find a used one and paint it. I painted mine and it came out great.
