Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Does your LO constantly take off their socks?

I am so frustrated with Elias! Everytime I put socks on him, he takes them off, instantaneously. Today, while at the park, I didn't see him take them off and basically we lost another pair of socks! He doesn't walk yet, so we don't have in shoes often. WDYT? Is there any solution? Maybe some tape? LOL!Confused

  • Yes, my DS does this! But no, I haven't found a solution as of yet. :/

This used to be my son.  He wears shoes most of the time so the socks stay on.  If we are at home, he is typically barefoot.

Yes.  This.  It happens so much and I am so frustrated. Especially since its getting cold out and I NEED her to keep her socks on.  I dont know what to do.

  • DD does this but sometimes she will leave them on. I ordered her a pair of slippers to wear around the house to keep her feet warm this winter. They have good reviews for kids not being able to take them off:

  • Yes!  We bought some some "soft-soled" shoes to put on over her socks (i.e., Robeez, Momo) and she leaves these on.

  • DD wear Robeez when she's in the house or at daycare.  It is the only way she will keep her socks on.  On warmer days, she goes barefoot.

  • yes, and shoes! always taking them off! It is so frustrating, but the exlporing and learning is a good thing..... that is what I tell myself anyway, so I am not too mad! :-)

  • Yes! My son has been doing this since he was about 6 months old. Now he takes his shoes and socks off every time we get in the car. He takes his socks off every time i put them on at home.

I tried buying socks that were harder to take off and then he gets frusterated and yells. So no advice here.

  • Sounds like it's time to get some soft soled shoes for him to wear when you leave the house.

  • Good to know Elias in not the only unruly baby lol! I will try some Robeez, and I really like those fleece looking ones. Especially now bc the weather is getting cooler, I would hate for him to get sick because of this!

  • At that age, for us the solution was to put shoes on her that she couldn't get off herself. We just put on Robeez type shoes and that worked great.

She'll leave socks on most of the time now, but every single nap she takes them off right away and shoves them down between her crib and the wall.

  • Yes!  Every single time we put him in his car seat the socks come off.  He also somehow managed to get one off in the grocery store the other day without me noticing right away.  I think I have to get some soft soled shoes too.

Thanks. Robeez sound like a go. Little one shoves his pacifiers between the crib and wall, every.single.time. LOL!

  • I saw these when I was at Cotton Babies the other day and the girl working told me she has friends that swear by them. No idea if they work or not though. Now that DD is older and wears socks and shoes everywhere, I have to watch her or she will take both her socks and shoes off; it's the first thing she does every time we get in the car.

  • We did Robeez whenever she left the house last winter. This year the problem is that the shoes come off as soon as she's in the car. Then the socks too if she has enough time. But she always throws them in the same place.
