9 weeks and nauseus :(

Im 9 weeks pregnant (this is my 2nd) and have been extremely nauseus for the past few weeks, Im seeing an OB already but dont see him again until 9/12... I have called twice c/o morning sickness and trouble sleeping at night but both times I was told just keep drinking water and eating small meals throughout the day... I just dont know what to do anymore, I love my doc but am irritated that "water and small meals" isnt working for me. Ive tried the ginger capsules and the pressure bands, saltines, peppermint etc... nothing seams to be working. please help :(

Re: 9 weeks and nauseus :(

  • That really stinks! Your appointment is a whole month away, into your 2nd trimester! Hopefully you will be better by then. Saltines and peppermint didn't do much for me either... They just reminded me that I was feeling nauseous! Have you tried the preggo pop drops or ginger ale? I was really lucky to have a pretty easy time with morning sickness, but those were my lifesavers when I did feel bad!

I had a friend who also would eat half of a bagel in bed when she woke up close to wake time, then would fall asleep/rest until wake time, then eat the other half before she got out of bed... said it's the only way she made it through morning sickness. It might be worth a try!

Also, I found that eating a few spoonfuls of yogurt before bed helped... the protein tided me over until morning and the dairy settled my stomach acids.

I hope it gets better soon!

  • Poor thing.  I was sick for 17 weeks.  My doctor put me on medicine because I was vomiting a lot and could not keep "water and small meals" down.  Ask your doctor about safe for baby/ pregnancy medicine.  I was on Zofran.  I still have to take one every now and then.  It's so important to stay hydrated and nourished and if you are feeling so sick, you can't.  Good luck..it will end eventually!

  • Hopefully you're feeling better by now, but if not, Tropical Smoothie's Chocolate Chiller smoothie really helped curb my nausea for some reason. :-)

  • I totally understand what you're going through. I will be 12 weeks tomorrow and have been nauseous and getting sick since I was 8 weeks. I can't find anything that helps me. I've been on zofran (anti-nausea med) and I still get sick. I hope you feel better soon!
  • I totally understand what you are going through. I am currently 24 weeks and still have days where I get sick. This is also my 2nd pregnancy.

With my first child, I was sick up until about 6-7 months. I actually lost 10 lbs. in one month and was put on Zofran. It is a great medication. However, if you are likely to get headaches or migraines, it can trigger awful ones.

This time around, I was showing the same signs as my first pregnancy, so my OB gave me Zofran. I had horrible headaches and had to quit taking it. Finally, in Aug. I had an awful spell of nausea and became so dehyrdrated they called in Finnighan (not sure I spelled correctly). This medication is AWESOME! However, it will completely knock you out for about 6-8 hours. So you have to have someone there that can rehydrate you.

Like you I have dried, sour candies, ginger, sea bands, emetrol, peppermints, ginger ale, gatorade, etc...

I promise it does improve. One thing that helped me was to try and create a schedule. I drink hot tea in the morning. I currently like lemon decaf or plain decaf with honey. Once I can drink this and keep my tummy calm, then I will try to eat something like toast or something else that is bland.

Good luck! I hope that this helps you.
