Re: outfits to the hospital?

  • Ehh, I'm not too worried about picking out an outfit.  For dd, she was covered up anyway in Sept it was a bit chilly.  And I had picked out a cute sundress (due in Aug), and she was too small for it anyway even being a week overdue.  She ended up coming home in a preemie size onesie that I had gotten by mistake and a hat and blankets over her.

For ds, it will be even colder in Jan.  I just plan on bringing a footed sleeper, hat and blankets.

  • I had a cute outfit for each, but honestly it's hard to even find something that fits well.  I remember my 8.5+ lb girls were swimming in their NB size outfits.  And you're right, it's not like you really want to be fussing with outfits.  It can't hurt to bring one or two cute outfits, especially if you do hospital photos (like the prof pics).
  • If you're talking about what he wore while IN the hospital, it was just the hospital provided onesies and swaddled.

But I can see maybe bringing a couple in various sizes if you want to do the pics like wat Arctic mentioned.

  • DD was in the hospital shirt, diaper and swaddled while in the hospital. I figured if I brought clothes for her to wear there, and she pooped in them, I wouldn't be able to throw them in the laundry right away. I only brought clothes to bring her home in.

  • For ethan I had a sleeper thing for pictures and that was it. For sophia I had a sleeper gown b/c I had the matching pjs .  All the nurses loved that we matched.  I think it is just easier not to put them in clothes with the security tag on their bellly button.

Maybe the girls on the other board are having their 1st baby and don't know the pain that it is.

  • I bought a super cute outfit for Claire when she was born and she wore it for about 2 minutes total for pictures (and we bought the one where she wasn't wearing it) and a sleeper to come home in.  I bought a scaled down outfit for Evan to come home in - just an "I love Daddy" onesie because we were supposed to come home on Father's Day.  Since he was in the NICU I never got to put anything on him, although the picture lady put him in a onesie for his picture.  We brought him home in a one piece Carter's outfit that was NB and the only thing he really fit into.

  • i dressed both of my girls every day we were in the hospital. I thought they were cozier..
Although, it was funny, with Natalie, the first night she was born, three times they brought her to me, she was wearing 3 different things.. First the hospital tshirt and standard blanket, then she  was wearing a halo swaddle sack thingy that the hospital provided the 2nd time and the third time she was back in the hospital tshirt and standard blanket.. I asked the nurse if they had brought me the wrong baby the middle time! turns out she had just spit up on the halo thingy. She also spit up on one of the outfit i'd brought her in the nursery and got put back in a hospital shirt.

  • I didn't bring anything to the hospital for her, but my mom bought 3 different outfits to choose from for a coming home outfit, so I ended up dressing her up. I don't know, this time I would just bring those little sleeper gowns maybe.

  • He just wore the hospital t-shirts and hats, and was swaddled while we were there. I didn't even think to bring clothes for him while he was there. I did have a take-home outfit for him - a onesie, knit pants, and hat because he was so tiny and it was kind of chilly that day.
