CALLING ALL: City Mini Car Seat Adaptor Users

I just recently found out that I'm pregnant with our first! My friend turned me onto the City mini when she purchased one for her one year old but she never used the car seat adaptor. I have been seeing bad reviews stating that it's not very stable. This does not make me feel good about this stroller. I guess I'm looking for someone that has used the City Mini Car Seat Adaptor to convince me that it's a great product and stable...LOL! I actually could not find many reviews regarding the use of the car seat adaptor but some of the few that I found all said that they did not like the car seat adaptor because it felt too top heavy.  Any help that you can give me would be so greatful! Thank you in advance!

  • I have the BJCM & use the Chicco car seat adapter with our Keyfit 30 carseat. When installer properly it is safe. With that- we have installed ours properly and use it almost daily when going anywhere- shopping, groceries, park, to the fair, for a walk.... When the seat is securely attached the only way to get in unlatched with the chicco is to release it just like you would from the car seat base. When attached I can lift up on the car seat and lift the whole stroller & seat combo off the ground. We have been using the adapter bar & stroller combo since LO was 6 days old. I could take off the bar and just use the stroller now (and sometimes do) but it is convenient when she is sleeping just to pop the car seat out of the base in the car and set it into the stroller without waking her up to run into Target!

  • We used ours with the chicco keyfit 30.  It was 100% stable as long as it is properly installed.  The black knobs of the adapter have to be right next to the big black plastic pieces for the carseat to snap in properly.  If it is in right you can literally pick up the entire thing (carseat and stroller) by the carseat handle.  I love the city mini and recommend it to all of my friends.  I also recommend getting the parent console so there is somewhere to put a drink and your keys/phone.  The downside I found is the basket underneath is not big enough for my diaper bag and it would not hang from the handle either.  When the carseat was attached I would slide my diaper bag into the stroller seat with it fully reclined.  Now I rarely take a big diaper bag, just a wetbag with a few diapers and that fits in the basket below.

  • I'll be a 1x mom also, and am thinking I'll use the adapter with the City Mini; however, another option I'm considering is to buy a separate snap and go.  The price is about the same as the Chicco adapter and it'll have more space than the basket in the City Mini.  Just a suggestion if you still have concerns.  I'm also thinking I might luck up and find the Snap and Go on Craigs List even cheaper.  Good luck!

  • While we love our CM, we didn't love the Chicco Keyfit adaptor- it felt and looked awkward.  We used it twice and then sold it on CL - our main strollers adaptor was a million times better.  Our CM is our travel stroller, so we don't use it that often, however, he fit fine in the stroller at 8 weeks - no snugglers needed.

  • I loved it!  It was absolutely perfect for us.  My infant car seat, that we used for probably around 6-8 months with stroller was the Graco Platinum.  It not only worked out perfectly, but also looked nice too.  I was very happy with the seat, adaptor, stroller combo.  By the time my son was around 6 or so months past due date I preferred to put him right in stroller and usually left car seat in car.

  • We use it with our Baby Trend car seat, and it has worked fine for us.

Keep in mind either way you won't be using it for THAT long...even if the car seat adapter was horrible I'd still keep my City Mini, it's a great stroller IMO.

  • This helped a lot with the installation:

Anyone who said it was unstable didn't have it installed correctly.
