My sister gave me her Fisher Price rainforest play mat to use for my LO that is due 11/5. The play mat has been used her with both her DSs, now 3 yrs. and 1 yrs, so it has seen a considerate amount of wear. However, I feel with a tight budget the hand-me-down play mat is a good idea. Please let me know if you disagree and feel I should spring for a new one. My real concern is how to clean it? Do I wash it or wipe it down? What would l wipe it down with? Also, she has dogs, so do I vacuum it?
I would really appreciate any advice on how to go about making the play mat as clean as possible for my upcoming LO. TIA!
Re: FP rainforest play mat
My cousin gave me a hand-me-down play mat. She has four kids. I don't know how many of them used it, but some did. I didn't think much of it because it wasn't something I had thought to get beforehand, but it became our most used baby item. It was a safe, clean area for DD to lay when I needed to do a couple things and she loved the lights, toys, music.
Mine isn't the rainforest one, but it is FP. I just detach the leg things and wash the mat. I had to wash it OFTEN because of the spit-up factor, and it washed and dried fine. I wouldn't vacuum it.
I have the fp rainforest mat and it can be washed in the washer and then hung to dry. wipe the toys with a baby toy cleaner wipe.
it is a great playmat.
This! I would totally take a used one.
