DD #1's name is very classic/traditional - Abigail Jean. Jean is after my grandmother. With #2 DH really likes trendy names, but I like more traditional names. I think we may have met in the middle & decided on
Riley Anne
But I'm not crazy about that spelling & was thinking "Rylie"
My questions are:
1. General thoughts on the name?
2. Spelling opinions
3. Does it go OK with Abigail/Abby?
Re: Thoughts on Riley?
I like Riley for a girl
I think Riley Anne sounds nice
I like it with DD#1's name!
1. HATE Riley, for a boy or a girl.
2. If you must at least just spell it Riley
3. No, Abigail is beautiful and classy. There are other "in" names that are classy, like Hazel, Mabel, Violet, Ava
I really don't like this name, and I don't think it matches with Abigail at all. It has always sounded like a boy's name to me.
There are other trendier choices that I think would suit better, like Madelyn, Zoe/Chloe, or Hailey.
Agree with all this.
2. Riley would be the best spelling IMO
3. No, I think Abigail is much classier and there are better options that would "match" the name as PP have listed....I would also add Madeline or Morgan to names that would go well.
1. I know of two TG people (FTM) who renamed themselves Riley because it's an androgynous name. Personally, I think it's a better name for a dog than a child.
2. Riley is probably the most common spelling, she might have to spell it for some people, but I think most who hear it will assume it's spelled this way.
3. I don't like Riley with Abigail. Madeleine, Ava, Catherine, and Elena all sound better with Abigail.
Love Abigail Jean
Hate Riley - especially for a girl. It's overdone, unisex and cutesy.
If you use it - stick with Riley
Riley Anne sounds really - southern (and I live in the south)
I don't think it fits with Abby.
Sorry but I have to agree with most PPs, I am NOT fan of the name for a girl. Maybe (a long stretch maybe) for a boy.
And it really does not sound well with Abigail.
1. It flows nicely. Riley isn't my style for boy or girl, but I do know a girl with this name.
2. I think spelling it the way you did is your best bet.
3. Paired with Abigail, I may have been more inclined to think Riley was a boy since Abigail is a more traditional/feminine name. Riley and Abby are cutesy together. FWIW, some people (my DH included) don't think sibling names are important to compare.

1. General thoughts on the name?
Hate it. There are so many awesome names, and this one sounds like it's for a pet. Also can't imagine an adult named Riley.
2. Spelling opinions
None. If you insist on using it, stick with Riley.
3. Does it go OK with Abigail/Abby?
Abigail is beautiful and classic and sounds well thought out. Rylie doesn't go well with Abigail at all...it sounds like a 15 year old girl chose it.
1. General thoughts - I like it better for a boy. It's too trendy and cutesy for me. It is VERY popular. We know 3 girls under 2 with the name all spelled kre8tivly. blech.
2. If you want to go with Riley then go traditional. We know a Rylie, Ryley, and a Rylee. Its super annoying.
3. I think Abigail nn Abby is so pretty and classic that her sister Riley would be left out! I say keep looking
DH is very trendy also, and it took us a long time to find names that he would agree to that didn't make me want to puke! GL
I agree with all this. Sorry
