LO and I will be taking a 2 hour flight in a couple of weeks and I want to bring baby food with me. I want to bring the organic pouches. but Im afraid they could possibly explode bc they'll have to be checked. Anyone do this successfully or unsuccessfully? I could just buy them there but tax is crazy high in Chicago even on food.
Re: Flying with babyfood question
i would just buy them there and pay the extra. or, buy on amazon and ship them to your destination, if possible.
I've never traveled with baby food, but anything I travel with that I'm worried about leaking, or exploding, I just put into a heavy-duty ziplock bag. You could put one pouch per bag and then even if they explode you would still be able to use them. GL!
As one who used to take 100 flights a year at least for work, the only thing I've ever had "explode" when checked was a bottle of shampoo once. And it didn't explode, it just popped the push value at the top to open the bottle so a couple of tablespoons leaked out. I've checked cans of coke, pudding jars, bottles of wine, etc all without incident.
Although this is all irrelevent because the TSA lets you take baby food in your carry on if you declare it! From the TSA website: "You are allowed to bring gel or liquid-filled teethers, canned, jarred, or processed baby food in your carry-on baggage and aboard your plane."
