In the first tri I was so sick with hyperemesis that the docs told me not to even worry about taking them because they probably wouldn't stay down anyway. Now that I'm mostly better, I CONSTANTLY forget to take my vitamin at night (not even a prenatal at that, just a regular one, so shoot me). Not looking for lectures, just wondering if anyone else is having the same forgetting problem or if any of you simply don't even take prenatal vitamins or any vitamins right now.
Re: prenatal vitamins- does anyone else suck at this??
I have a little trick I use to remember to take it. I like to drink a glass of juice everyday so I make that one glass of juice the one that I take my vitamins with.
So everytime I pour my nightly glass of juice (grape, cranberry, apple or whatever it happens to be that week) I know its time to get out my vitamins. I have associated them as going together now so I never forget. And the juice is kind of a treat for me so I NEVER forget to drink it - I look forward to it.
It sounds silly but it is really helpful for me. I think I have only missed one or two nights of vitamins this whole pregnancy.
Is there something that you do every night that you can try to start taking your vitamins along with?
After 2 1/2 years TTC, 3 IUI's, endo, and a lap, a surprise BFP brought us Alexandra Marie!
I took prenatals RELIGIOUSLY the entire 9 months we were TTC... I doubt I ever skipped a day. Now that I'm actually pregnant, I kinda suck at them. I think it's b/c I couldn't take them in the morning (as I'd been doing) during 1st Tri or I'd throw up so I switched to nighttime. And by bedtime, I'm so tired it's all I can do to remember to wash my face and brush my teeth.
Might need to try that juice trick in the morning now that m/s is long gone.
I was so diligent at first and never ever forgot one (except a day I was really sick and choose not to take it). Now I am doing horrible as well. I can't even remember if I took it the day before or not.
I'm going to set my alarm on my phone to remind me.
I loathe taking pills so I opted for the gummy kind.
I don't know how I did it but I ended up with a little routine before I walk out the door for work.
What I do forget is my Iron pill before bed. They are not supposed to be taken with the other ones.
Since it is registered with walking out the door to work, that means I totally suck at it on the weekends. I have gone a couple of days missing and I feel so bad.
me.
I was doing really good for a while. I forgot the last 2 days and didn't even realize it until I read this. I never take it at the same time of day either because I'm lucky if I remember at all. So when I see them I grab on real fast before I forget again.
I'm off to take one now before I forget again...
I haven't been taking mine.. mainly cause they are so BIG and I can't swallow them without choking and gagging...
we don't have the chewable kind here in Canada (least not that I've found)
I do take a folic acid pill every now and than when i remember
I forget more times than I remember to be honest.
At first prenatals made me throw up, so I stopped.
Now with the medication I take to stop the m/s (yes I still get it) I still throw up if I take the pills.
I have tried 5 different kinds, doctor said to try to remember and try to keep it down but she would rather I stay hydrated and keep food down. So I dont worry to much. I WILL take one tonight though, thanks for reminding me!
*raises hand* I think part of my problem is that I'm trying to take them with meals that are low in calcium since my body really needs to absorb as much iron as it can. And I love milk/cheese.
I leave them in a super obvious place... where I eat my lunch. (I found out early on that taking them at night made me more nauseous than taking them with lunch or dinner.)
