When does your town do trick-or-treating?

Always on Halloween, or on a weekend?

I never know when it is around here, but it rarely seems to be on the 31st.

  • always on Halloween.  Area towns, villages & cities will have their community halloween party/activities and such on a weekend but the actual trick or treating is always on Halloween.

  • Always on Halloween.
  • Always on Halloween. I remember last year a post about this and it was the first time that I ever heard of TorTing on any day other than Halloween. I thought it was weird then and I think it's weird now to "celebrate" on a day other than the holiday.

  • H'ween. We live in a city of 300,000 people, I can't imagine organizing TOT on any other night.

  • I grew up in Texas and lived in Virginia as an adult, and we've always done it on the 31st.  You know... Halloween.

We just moved to central PA, and here they do it on a Thursday night.  So weird.  So even a couple of years ago when Halloween was on a Saturday, they still did ToT'ing on a Thursday.

  • On Halloween.
  • Always on Halloween. I think it's weird to do it any other night.
  • I just found when it is for us--10/30. Halloween is on a Monday, this is a Sunday. It's still a school night, so it doesn't really ensure that kids get a full night of sleep before school or something. The only problem it does solve is the problem of how do I pass out candy and take the kids trick or treating when I'm the only adult home. DH will be here to help.

  • I will say that I live in a town that revolves around a big factory. Apparently Halloween is the biggest call-in day of the year for them, and I wonder if our county makes it on a non-work night for the company. Of course, people who commute from other counties can still call-in...

  • The township does it on the Sunday before. The city has it on Halloween night.

  • Ours is always the Saturday before from 6-8 pm. Living here was my first experience with non-Halloween night ToT. Growing up it was always Halloween night.

  • Always on Halloween.  I totally don't get not doing on the actual holiday to be honest.  Around here, the only thing that is not on Halloween is some of the zoo stuff but even the main zoo has their ZooBoo event on Halloween and all the malls do their trick or treating stuff on Halloween as well.
