I was a little surprised my ob scheduled an u/s this early but was still really excited because I knew we might see the heartbeat.
My DH was planning to go until last night when he started backing out. He was weirded out by the idea of the transvaginal u/s and wanted to wait until the "kind they do on TV where it's on your stomach." After a great deal of discussion, I told him he was free to go or not go, but I felt like he would regret it if he didn't.
Today, he decided to go and we were both glad he did. I think just seeing someone else who knows (the staff at the ob/gyn) and them congratulating him was fun for him because we still haven't told anyone.
The u/s was quick and simple and not nearly as "involved" as he had feared. At first the tech said it was too early to see the embryo, but then she saw the heartbeat.
She measured the gest. sac and said I was only 5 weeks, 3 days along, but I charted so I know I should be 6 weeks or 5 weeks, 6 days. (I'm not changing my ticker yet!)
Just seeing that little heartbeat has eased my mind so much even though I know there are still risks. We're going to tell parents/siblings this weekend and I'm so, so glad to finally spread the news just a little!
Anybody else who charted have a different calculation than what they measured on your first u/s?
Re: 1st U/S- DH, heartbeat, & measurements
Congrats! You should be fine. My son measured 6days behind at our first u/s with him but I had charted so I knew. Your O day is within 24hrs, plus time to travel & implant, so that can make it 3-4days later. Plus, ultrasounds are never 100% accurate.
They kept trying to tell me my EDD was 12/12 but that would have meant I got my BFP at 4dpo so I knew they were wrong. I thought 12/2 - he was born 11/30
Thanks! That makes me feel better. I'd rather have them be behind my calculations instead of in front of them (does that makes sense?) so I don't get induced a week early down the road.
