  • I think one or both of the parents know SOMETHING.  I don't know what, but things don't add up enough for it to be completely random

  • I honestly can't speculate. Too much is made of how people are *supposed to* behave or the things they're *supposed to* say so we can check off the items on the "guilty" or "innocent" list. "I have a feeling" isn't admissible in court, so I'm reserving judgment until there's actually some evidence.
  • My DH works for a news organization and he was telling me that there are some big developments that will come to light today that hadn't been released to the public yet, but should be soon.

Did you guys see the investigators trying to recreate how the perp got in to their house? It looked basically impossible to get a baby back out the window with them not making any noise or anything. Super suspicious!

  • I hate that the mom is always who gets blamed and I hate even more that it is usually blame that is rightfully placed.

If my daughter went missing, I wouldn't be able to function. It seriously gives me the chills just thinking about it. I am a wreck when I get a text from daycare that she bumped her head or another girl pulled her hair, I couldn't imagine my child being in actual danger.

I think one of them knows something.  I could be wrong, but something doesn't seem right.

I'm with you.  Before I can go to sleep at night, I have to check on DD one more time.  We live in a SUPER safe neighborhood.  I can't imagine how I would be if we didn't.

  • I feel bad for that poor baby, caught up in this whole mess. I hope she is okay.

The fact that the parents stopped co operating at a point during the investigation makes me suspicious. I hope whoever did it gets caught and sentanced appropriately, but moreso I hope they find that little girl.

Edit: I want to add, how the heck do you leave the door unlocked?! I suffer from anxiety so maybe my thought process is a little different, but I am super paranoid about doors or windows not being locked up. The minute I get into the house I lock the door behind me, and I check again before bed and I don't even have any children yet. It's simple safety, no matter what 'type' of neighborhood you live in.

I saw this! It looked damn near impossible. A baby would def wake up and cry like heck if all that was going on. Plus wouldn't someone else hear it, it seemed like quite an effort for even the very think investigator to do.

I feel terrible for them but it is very suspicious.

I'd be going crazy. We've had two instances where DS has run off, and one time they locked the building down because of it.  Thankfully, they were safe, but I was a wreck!

It seems weird that the mom left the front door unlocked just one time too.  DH and I didn't worry so much when it was just us, and we lived in a second floor apartment, that was extremely difficult to climb into (he had to once when we locked our keys inside and it was hilarious to watch, but incredibly difficult) and we left our sliding door open all night long...before we had kids.  Every since our oldest was born, I lock up all first floor doors and windows, lock the kids' bedroom window, walk back through and check them all, then DH rechecks them all when he gets home from work.  With kids in the house, we just don't take chances.  The only windows that are left open at night are the ones that you'd need an extension ladder to get into, and it'd be way too obvious on the corner we live on.  It's busy at all hours of the night, so you'd never miss someone trying to get in!  I even set the child safety locks on our first floor windows at night so they won't open more than a couple inches as an extra precaution.  I got really paranoid about this stuff when we had kids.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but don't most kidnapping cases usually come back to someone in the family or someone the family knows?  I thought I heard that most are not random.

I 100% agree. I would probably need to be put on sedatives. I always have to check all the doors, windows, etc... before I go to bed and then I check on my daughter twice - once when I go upstairs and then again after I've put on my PJs, washed my face, brushed my teeth etc.. I think I've been even more paranoid about it since this story broke. I have no idea if the parents did it or if they know something. I hope not.

  • I've only been reading about it on BOTB but I noticed it hadn't been discussed here. Apparently they found video footage of the mom out with another man at a liquor store that night that she didn't mention. So apparently she left the kids home ALONE and was cheating on her boyfriend. She is also STILL married to her first husband. This could explain the failed lie detector test. Very fishy.

  • I had a hunch that the parents were involved after the first interview I saw which was before the parents were considered suspects.  Something just didn't seem right  with the mom...I can't really justify my feelings on that.  The whole thing breaks my heart.  Such a beautiful little girl; I hope they find her soon.
  • I think if not both, one of them has something to do with it. I don't understand how you leave your doors and windows unlocked. Out of 3 kids and the parent's room the abducter finds the baby's room without waking anyone and how they got the baby out of the house with waking noone AND stealing 3 cell phones.

  • The whole thing sounds hinky to me.  I believe one, or both, of the parents are responsible.

I'm from Kansas City and lived only blocks from where this happened.  Although I never leave anything unlocked no matter where I live, this isn't an area where you would ever leave your doors and windows unlocked.

I agree that there is something fishy, but the other guy in the video was her brother, not a boyfriend so that makes me feel a little better--but I still wonder who was with the kids while she was on a wine (and baby food/wipes) run?

I was glad to see her come clean on the today show this a.m. that she was drunk on wine and that she put the baby to bed hours earlier than she had previously claimed.  I'm still not ready to let her off the hook for this, but the more honest she is the better the chances of investigators getting to the truth.

I just hope that baby is safe somewhere, but I don't have a good feeling about the whole thing.  :-(
