2nd Trimester

Maternity Pants

Ok, I'm only 12w 1d but I'm already getting to the point of needing stretchy pants. *sigh* Here's my problem. I'm not skinny but I'm not technically fat. My belly isn't bothering me so much as my disgusting love handles I can't seem to hide. So... what I'm looking for are pants that have higher sides or a tighter band or something that will help hold in those love handles. The low-rise maternity pants cut right under my love handles and the panels aren't tight enough to smooth things out. Anyone experience this and find something that works?? Belly bands aren't a great option because they roll really bad and don't stay put very well. I'm desperate and feeling really bad about myself. Help!Oh, and I'm posting in the 2nd Trimester forum because I figure the ladies here probably have more experience with maternity clothes than the first trimesters! Thanks in advance!!

Re: Maternity Pants

  • try layering your shirts with a tighter cami underneath. That really seemed to smooth things out for me. Good luck!! I'm finally getting out of that miserable stage and I HATED IT!! Just remember that it's only a few more weeks and then you'll finally start looking pg instead of just chubby.

  • Maybe try some full panel maternity pants. Good luck.
  • It sounds like have similar body types. I have been wearing full panel jeans. I find them to be more comfortable and smooth things out a bit. GL

  • I had that issue too!  Honestly I stoppped wearing very "fitted" shirts until my tummy looked like a bump, and not a muffin top pouring out of my pants.  I also liked the half panel pants, but I'm very petite (5'1''), so they go up to my belly-button (not under the belly like on tall ladies with long torsos)

  • i'd skip pants altogether. get a nice maxi dress or fold-over waist skirt. i have maternity jeans, and they are nice, but still a bit too big so they sag. i wore a floor-length dress today and it was just glorious.
if it's chilly in your neck of the woods, get some knee socks and pair with cute boots.

  • I love the full panel maternity pants.  Right now mine are still a little big so I wear my Motherhood Maternity bella band with it to keep them up.  I'm in between sizes still so I'm planning on getting some cute fall dresses and wearing tights under them.
  •  I have always had a problem getting pants to fit me. Seems my upper thighs and butt are too big, waist used to be small. So I had to settle for some today, that are too big all around, just so I sit without ripping the seam in the butt. the low waist ones are too loose in the hips/belly, so when I set, they go right above my crack. I got the full panel and I plan to roll them down for a while. They still look like crap, but I couldn't keep buying regular pants that are one size bigger, just because my belly is. I loathe shopping.

  • ugh, my belly is finally pulling enough so that the love handles arent that bad anymore- you'll get there. I either did the bella band or a loose/flowy top. Yes, it's annoying as hell to be fixing the bella band every time you sit down, bed over or pretty much move- but it's the only thing that did the trick...unless you go with enough layers. Good luck.
  • Try on some full panels but fold them over...that is what I'm still doing.  Also I always wear a control style cami to help support them.  Maybe you could try a bella band?
  • I would recommend the full panel pants because they really work at smoothing things out and plus they are super comfy! My black maternity slacks I got from Motherhood Maternity are probably the most comfy pants ever!
