Ages (you and SO):
How many months have you been TTC?:
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?:
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.)
How many months have you been TTC?: we have been NTNP for a couple months, this feels like the first month we are actually more « trying » than preventing.
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?: Flo app, prenatals, might see if I can find my Ava bracelet somewhere
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.) We have a 9 month old son who is crawling like a wild man. I was briefly on and off the TTGP board when we were trying last time (had two losses before him so also had brief stints on those birth month boards). I always found this board super helpful and encouraging and I really love the ladies in my birth board (July 2020). It’s hard to be TTC knowing we’d be embarking on our second pandemic pregnancy but I get my second shot tomorrow so that helps my anxiety some. We’re obviously elderly (ha!) so I don’t feel like we have the luxury of time, especially since we had a lot of heartbreak before our take home baby.
Welcome back to the community @rachelredhead. Hopefully the group is as helpful this time as it was last time, even if you were here sporadically! I hope your stay with us is short but sweeeeeeeet.
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?: IVF, just had my egg retrieval this morning, and now I'm bumming around all day
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.): We've got two dogs but we also foster rescue pups! I'm a doctoral student finishing up my dissertation this year.
Ages (you and SO): I just turned 29 and my husband is 28
How many months have you TTC? 2 but hubby is currently working out of town for a few months and only is home on Friday’s. Luckily I think that’ll fall in my fertility window fairly well this month. TW*** I had a miscarriage in March and this is my first period back we took that month off **** end TW.
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?: Flo app, PNV
Tell us about yourself! we have two little boys ages 3 (almost 4) and 1 1/2. TW*** I’ve been told I’m totally infertile after our first son- doctors were shocked I had my second. And since he’s been born I’ve not gone back into premature menopause again so we’re trying while we still can to have a 3rd”. If I disappear I probably started menopause again (POF) my first time I was 25. ****END TW I am a stay at home mom and I don’t really know what my husband does. He works for the government and can’t talk about it. I love to play piano and watch documentaries. I am also working on a bachelors degree off and on in sociology and women and gender studies. I was on TB while ttc with my first kiddo and it was fun getting to know every one! I can’t wait to do it again ♥️
@BusinessWife Thank you! I told everyone that if I have another baby I’ll pass out lottery tickets since the doctors told me I’m more likely to win the lottery 😂 I’m feelin lucky though so let’s see what happens
*lurking* @daisy0322 I feel like I remember you but there have been several daisys so not sure. Did your doctor tell you you had a super low AMH level or something like that? Anyway, glad to see you were ultimately successful.
@lizzi97 Welcome to the board! We have an active weekly IF thread so feel free to hop in for some great support! In the meanwhile, congrats on your ER!
@daisy0322 Welcome back! I LOLed hard at "FSH of 112"! Your case so goes to show that doctors don't know everything. But then again, conception is an art not a science, so how can they? When IVF success gets to 100%, we can have a different conversation. Until then, keep on DTD and keep on hoping/praying that you'll get your #3. You might not have a lot of egg, but yours are still very good quality! Good luck; hope your stay here is short.
Hi y'all. I've been spouting off over in the IF Testing & Treatment thread for a few weeks now but figure I should properly introduce myself elsewhere.
Ages (you and SO): It's just me, doing this all by myself (well... me and a sperm donor). I'm 38.
How many months have you been TTC?: I've been trying since fall of 2018, when I was a starry-eyed newbie who thought she would get pregnant no problem. After perhaps 7 months (I wasn't trying every month) of BFNs, got an RE referral, who in turn had me do an ultrasound and then an MRI that found and confirmed a couple of big ol' fibroids, one of which had breached the uterine wall. Bad timing meant I moved states right at this same moment, so setting up new insurance, getting a new referral, confirming that yes, I needed surgery and then scheduling surgery meant I wasn't free of my fibroids till Jan 2020. So about half of 2019 was a total wash. Post-surgical recovery plus covid meant it was late spring in 2020 before I was up and running again. A few natural cycle IUIs, then experimentation with clomid and femara brought me to late 2020, when my local women's clinic washed its hands of me. Which is how I wound up at the fertility clinic I'm at now, with two failed injectable IUI cycles behind me.
What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?: I'm currently waiting to start my first IVF cycle, set to begin in early May. I'm also on many of the usual supplements: CoQ10, prenatals, Vit D, Acai, DHEA, baby aspirin, melatonin, uh... I feel like I'm forgetting one. I try to be healthy regardless of whether I'm TTC, but have toned down my exercise levels on the off-chance I was getting too much of a good thing. These days I run a few miles 3-4 times a week, plus general maintenance work on my family's 70-acre property/farm. I am a lifelong vegetarian who eats a lot of whole grains, green veg, eggs, legumes, whole-fat dairy, and tofu. I've recently starting including sardines in my diet a couple of times a week. I'd cook fresh fish but I have no idea how, ha ha.
Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.): I have a dog named Luce who is every kind of trouble. I swear she's going for some kind of record for number of expensive emergency vet visits. She's a terrier and so has no pain receptors (or fear). Most recently she returned home from a mystery adventure with a broken tail and visible tail bones, which required an emergency amputation. She's still wearing the cone.
I finished a PhD in history in 2018 and now am an academic copy editor who works from home (hi @lizzi97 ! Good luck with getting that diss done!). I mainly read manuscripts from my own research area but sometimes branch out to other fields. I mostly love the work and am always grateful for its flexibility, since I never have to arrange for time off to deal with my complicated appointments calendar. When I was a grad student and for about a year afterwards I taught university courses, and boy do I ever miss teaching.
History
I am doing this on my own. Left ovary and fallopian tube removed due to cyst/necrosis just after birth. Right ovary and tube still purport to function.
Began TTC in Aug '18 @ age 35
5 or 6 (or 7?!) cycles using frozen donor sperm, ICI. All BFN
Mar-Jun '19 IUIs, all BFN
Began process of referral for RE in spring of '19, blood tests confirm low AMH (.54) but all else is good.
May '19 HSG shows open tube, but ultrasound suggests fibroids
MRI in June '19 confirms two large fibroids, one growing through wall of uterus
In June '19 I move from California to Oregon, disrupting my insurance, referrals, etc. 5 months spent piecing it all back together.
Nov. '19 attempted myomectomy (vaginal approach) failed. 2nd surgery using laparoscopic method in Jan '20 is successful.
April '20 --> June '20, natural IUIs, all BFN.
July? saline ultrasound and bubble test demonstrate open tube
July '20 clomid cycle cancelled for thin lining
Aug-Oct, 3 femara cycles, all BFN
RE referral. While waiting to set up an appointment Nov-Jan,I continue with natural cycles and ICI, using a known donor, BFN...
Jan '21 more bloodwork, AMH is worse (.30), FSH high albeit not catastrophic at 13.2. hysteroscopy all good. "looks cozy!" says the RE.
Feb '21, injectables (menopur, novarel), iui, BFN (doc said the frozen donor sperm sample had the "best numbers she'd ever seen!")
Mar '21, injectables, iui cancelled due to lack of follicles, converted to at home-insem. BFN
May '21, first IVF round cancelled due to cyst.
July '21 IVF: standard antagonist. 225menupur/225gonal-f/cetrotide/5000u trigger, AFC 7; 6 days of stims. 8 eggs retrieved, 7 mature, 5 fertilize, 4 made it to blast. 3 are 4AB, 1 is 4BB. PGT-A results all abnormal. Oct '21 somewhat improved AMH (.51) and significantly improved FSH (8.9). Maybe it's all the pills I swallow. Dec -21, standard antagonist. 225menupur/225gonal-f/cetrotide/5000u trigger, AFC 5; 11 days of stims. retrieval yields 5, 4M, 2 reach day-6 blast (4AB & 4BB). 1 low-level mosaic (chr. 3 deletion), 1 complex abnormal. Feb '22 FET (low-level mosaic): CP. May '22 egg retrieval, lupron flare protocol. HGH priming for 1 month before stims; md lupron 20/20u daily; menopur 225, follistim 225, 10k trigger after 8 days of stims; AFC 10; 13 retrieved; 10 mature; 8 fertilized. All frozen at 2PN for later thaw, grow, and biopsy. July '22 egg retrieval same protocol: 9 days of stims; AFC 8; 10 retrieved, 8 mature, 4 fertilized and frozen. Sept '22 ER same protocol: AFC 10; 12 retrieved, 11 mature, 11 fertilized. From the 3 retrievals, 7 survived to day 5-6 blastocyst, from which I have 2 normal embryos! FET scheduled for Jan 20. Fully medicated, baby aspirin, dexamethasone, acupuncture, and as much woo as I can stand (which isn't very much). BFN.
