We've always used BG4.0's with 2 inserts (the original BG MF insert + a hemp insert - either Knicker Knappies or Babykicks Joey-bunz hemparooz) for overnight use. We'd never had a leak.
But, after reading here and hearing how much so many of you love wool, I decided to give it a go. So, I bought an ecoposh fitted and a wool soaker to go over it (Woollybottoms). I washed and dried the diaper and inserts (the 6r soaker, bamboo and organic cotton) 5 times before the first use. I did nothing to prep the soaker, as I was told that it was already lightly lanolized and ready to go. I stuffed with only the large part of the 6r insert. And after about 7 hours, it leaked.
I couldn't feel a wet spot on DS pj's, but there was definitely a wet spot on the sheet. The soaker felt damp on the outside.
Did I do something wrong? Should I have done something to the wool soaker before using it? Is my DS just an extremely heavy wetter? (His BG4.0s are usually heavy when I change him in the morning, but I have no idea what qualifies as a "heavy wetter".) Should I try a different brand of fitted?
I want to try it again, and this time I'll use both parts of the 6r insert or else part of the 6r and a hemp insert. But if it leaks again, I'm going to sell the whole lot. $65 for a leaky diaper just isn't working for me.
Re: Why didn't my wool work?
IMO you just need to lanolize. Lightly lanolized for overnight probably won't cut it. I wouldn't jump to selling just yet.
I agree, try lanolizing. Some of my wool has worked fine immediately and other pieces have needed a few rounds of lanolizing.
Also, was the fitted soaked, or not? If it was, it may not be absorbent enough.

OK. Thanks for all of your responses.
I will try lanolizing and adding more absorbency to the fitted to see if that solves the problem. I really want this to work! I love the idea of natural, breathable fibers rather than PUL.
The lady at the CD store said that I could just dissolve some lanolin (the same stuff I used on my breasts in the early days) in boiling water, then soak the wool soaker in that for a while. Then just lay it out flat to dry. That seems reasonable, but I know there are such things as lanolin sprays, also. Is there something else I should know?
