Can doing too much make your GD levels high?

Hey ladies!  This morning my reading was 88 for fasting..a little high, but I've been a little too "free" with my snacks at night, and I can definitely see the difference.  Well, I had a bowl of cheerios with skim milk, which is always an okay breakfast for me, and about 1.5 hours later I thought I'd take my sugar to see where it was--I figured it'd be a good reading because I had done a load of laundry, folded some laundry, washed dishes, and dusted the entire downstairs...it was 115!! I know this isn't a terrible reading, but for me, it's usually about 99-101 range for after breakfast.  I waited 15 minutes and tested again, closer to the time I'd normally have taken it, and it was at 100.  It seems crazy that it can drop so quickly, do you think I had been "too busy" and it caused my sugars to stay high?

  • If anything, being busy/active tends to make my blood sugars drop faster.  That may be why yours dropped so quickly.  And definitely the time difference in taking  your reading 15 minutes earlier than usual can have an impact.  Do you usually test 2 hours post meal?

Always test 2 hours after, unless I am hungry still...then I'll test at 1 hour and see if my number is the safe range there, and most of the time it is.  I know they say stress can affect your numbers, so I wasn't sure if THAT kind of stress could..ya know?  I'm thinking the 15 minutes of "down time" between readings DID help a bit!  THANKS!

  • I have strict guidelines and numbers to follow from my doctor.  If you don't have that, you should get that.  My fasting number cannot be over 95.  1 hour post meals cannot be over 130.  Anything under is fine... doesn't matter where it is.

I only check 1 hour after meal.  If I decided to check 2 hours after the meal, it couldn't be over 120 post meal.
