I was leaving the park today when the cutest beagle-like dog was crossing the road, there was on-coming traffic and I just started repeating to myself, "don't hit the dog, don't hit the dog, don't hit the dog..." the fvcking bastard woman didn't slow down, didn't swerve, didn't do anything, she just plowed him over and managed to hit him with three tires and roll him under her car, then drove off. I flew out of my car and into the road to keep other cars from hitting him, and there was a man walking on the other side of the street that I practically screamed at for help. I was scared to pick up the dog because Ive heard when they're hurt and scared they can be vicious, but we picked him up anyway, he wasnt moving, I wasn't sure if he was alive. When I was leaning over him he picked his head up a little and cried then passed out again and I lost it. One of the women leaving the meeting saw me standing there holding this dog crying, she didnt see what happened but she stopped to see what happened. I couldn't leave Ethan in the car but I couldn't leave the dog either. The lady had an SUV so we put him in the back and went to the Pet ER which was closed, then to the vet down the street which wouldn't help him and made us leave. I had his lifeless body in my arms and they wouldnt fvcking help him, they made us take him to the shelter to be put down. (He was very, very hurt.) The shelter was great they saw me coming across the lot and ran out to get him from me, they were awesome, the vet on the other hand was terrible.
I was in to much shock to say anything at the time but I'm going to call them and tell them what bastards I think they are. They are in the business of animal care and couldn't have cared less. I'm livid about it now. Thank goodness Ethan was asleep the whole time and the other mom watched him in the car while I ran with the dog. Im crying just writing this, I just don't understand how you could do that to an animal, a living being, and keep driving. I HATE people sometimes.
Re: I saw a dog hit by a car leaving my Mom's Club meet
I am so sorry! Good that you were there or that dog would have suffered terribly. The vet was probably more worried about who would pay for the bill than putting the dog out of it's misery.
Did the dog have tags?
I would be calling the paper right now and giving them the whole story. I am sure they would love it and it would give good publicity to the shelter that actually helped you.
Can a vets office actually turn away an injured animal?? Isn't that aginst some kind of oath?

Such an incredibly sad story! Thank you so much for being such a wonderful person and showing this animal kindness in its final moments. We had a friend who's dog was hit by a car, and the woman who was driving was worse off than my friend she was so upset. It really showed me that some people are amazing and do amazing things (like you did) and some are just heartless jerks.
I know I would be inconsolable if it were my dog, but I would be thankful to know that someone cared for her in the end.
No tags, though he looked well fed.
Chatham, is there a way to find out??
The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.

I'm sorry Sandy
With a vet being a privately owned clinic, they probably can turn away clients. A hospital legally can't turn anyone away, unless it's a privately owned hospital. ?
i'm speechless. how someone could just mow down a dog. or how the pet er wouldn't help. or ... yeah, speechless. it makes me so angry the way people treat animals sometimes.
thank you so much for helping. if it were my pet, i'd want someone to have tried to help.
i just hope the poor puppy had tags and the owner can be notified.

This whole story makes me sick. ?Sorry you had to go through this. ?In regards to your above post, if the article was written very well (in a convincing way if that makes sense) - I would consider switching vets. ?But if I was vet shopping - I would NOT ever go there. ? With that said, I have my vets home phone # and instructions on how to reach her in off hours. ?
I'm so sorry you had to witness that. ?Poor pup. ?Thanks for doing what you could to help him.?
