We are team pink
Evelyn Autumn Sweeney 8lbs 12oz arrived at 6:35 pm yesterday. Delivery was very traumatic and I'm still trying to wrap my head around everything that happened, so warning for the following info!
My induction started at 9pm Wednesday night. To make a long story short, I labored all day Thursday and we also found out that the baby had pooped in utero so they told us she would immediately be taken from us to clear her lungs for any infection from this. No big deal.
Labor was fine, but at towards the end I started to get a fever. When it was time to start pushing I was so sick. My fever kept rising, I was puking my brains out, and I was extremely dizzy, etc. I pushed for 2 long hours and just was in another world while doing so. It was amazing when the doctor said, "it's a girl!" and she was immediately taken to the little room attached to mine. This is when the chaos broke loose. The placenta wouldn't come out so that was a process and then out of no where I started hemorrhaging a TON. My uterus was not contracting, my blood wasn't clotting, and my BP was dropping rapidly. The nurses and doctors were running around in panic mode and DH was running back and forth between the baby and I in tears. It was the most extreme pain I had ever felt because my doctor was manually trying to contract my ute and trying to collect all of the blood inside of me with her hands. I will spare you anymore gross details on that. I also have a 3rd degree tear from my vagina to my anus and I had some type of infection in my ute, which causes my fever/sickness.
I only got to see Evelyn for 2 minutes during this chaos and then she was taken to the NICU. She has to stay in there for 48 hours because my uterine infection was passed onto her. I was also not allowed to see her for 6 hours after birth bc I needed to be monitored to see if I needed surgery (which I didn't end up needing).
I will post a picture as soon as I can. We are absolutely in love with our daughter and I can't wait until we can all be together. Thanks for reading and best of luck to all the October babies!
