continuing to test after BFP

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I never understood continuing to test after you get a BFP. People usually cite that they feel security in seeing a "positive" continually.  I can understand for maybe a week since a quick c/p might show a "negative" but HCG takes a while to get out of your system so it doesn't seem like you would learn anything, but instead give yourself false resassurance.

 Has anyone had HPT show they miscarried?

    well after almost a full year of nothing seeing something was quite a shock and i couldn't believe it.  so i peed on something else.. then i wanted to pee on something i didnt just buy over the internet for cheap so i peed on something that would say pregnant or not pregnant.  it said pregnant.  i stopped peeing on sticks.

    After I got mine, I went to work thinking "maybe it was a fluke?  DH- you really saw that line, right?"  So on my way home I bought 4 different brands to make sure.

    I can't imagine that this time will be any different.

    I totally get peeing a on a bunch initially, I did this too. 8 I think. Two of you said that you had determined you miscarried via HPT so I guess its more possible and common then I thought. I am sorry for your losses. Thank you for your honest responses.

    Yes I was able too.  My hCG went from 327 to 12 in 2 days, very possible.

    OP: I continued to test because I loved seeing the two lines and I loved seeing the lines get darker in the beginning.

     Thanks! He is actually an italian greyhound. Good dog, except difficult to housebreak, took about 3 years. he is 7 now. :)

    My HPT showed my chemical pregnancy, because I kept testing after my BFP. With my MMC I also kept testing, it was very reassuring to see that second line. However, as you said I had high levels of HCG when I had no viable pregnancy left so it was a false security.

    With DD I only tested twice. I was 1 week late and got a negative HPT. 1 week later I tested again and got a positive. No more testing after that.  I'm hoping to take the same approach with this one, although I'm a little more eager so who knows!

    Aww we had a Rat Terrier, we had to put him down about 2 months ago though. :( He had a freak injury that damaged his spinal cord. And even after surgery the spinal cord was dying so we had to put him down. he was only 4 years old. They are truely the best breed ever!
