daycare vent

So I take Hayley to daycare Mon-Fri from 6 to 330. she used to wake up at 5 and fall back to sleep in the morning to daycare. they would always get her to take cat naps during the day. yesterday i picked her up from daycare and they tell me she hasnt slept all day and she was a total hot mess. They told me she ate at 3:15. Then why was my child gulping down an 8 oz bottle when we got home at 3:45??? She then continued to play but cry and finally at 6:00 she went down with another 5 oz bottle with her prevacid. I figured the poor girl would be up last night at midnight. She finally woke up at 3 am for a bottle and went back to bed at 330 till 530 when I dressed her to take her to daycare. I am going to be more than a little pissed if I pick her up today and they tell me the same thing. they always take her over to the room with the older kids. no wonder she wont sleep! keep over on the other side until I get there. All of the other infants are gone when I get there so they just put them all in one room so the women can sit and converse while taking care of the other children. I have walked in and they dont even notice Im there until I walk over to the table...a new daycare may be in order soon.

Re: daycare vent

  • I'm sorry you don't feel like she's getting the best care there.

She may just be going through a phase with the sleeping. DD has never slept good at daycare. Even at her old one in the infant room it was just too distracting because she's used to quiet at nap time here at home.

As for mixing the rooms. They have to do that. It's not financially prudent to have a DC provider watching only one or two infants. It's unfortunate they take that opportunity to chit chat instead of playing with the kids.

I hope you can find a place that makes you more comfortable. I would suggest in home but you might have trouble finding one that would take your DD as early as 6am. Could be worth checking into though. Good luck!

  • Ugh, I am so sorry! That's really frustrating, I hope you're able to come to an agreement with her current DC to help her get some sleep or find something that works better for her.

  •  I have the same problem with my daycare. She just does not get enough sleep. I think that is something that is universal at all day cares unless your kid can sleep through a train wreck. Sad
  • I guess u ladies are right. I went today and she was finally crawling forward again. It brought tears to my eyes knowing my baby is already growing up!
