Today Harper has an appointment with the pediatric gastroenterologist after some bloodwork came back abnormal. At her 2 month appt which was at 7 weeks, Harper had only gained about 1-2 ounces in a 4 week period. Her pedi was concerned and discussed it with GI. The suggested some bloodwork that we had done this weekend and some of it came back outside of the "standard range", including some liver and kidney function tests. I can see the results online but of course don't know how to interpret them and have thus far stayed off dr. Google. This week she did gain, about 4.5 ounces and finally hit 9 pounds. She is thriving in every other way: getting taller (3 inches already), smiling, finding her hands, is wicked strong, can support her head really well, is a great cryer and screamer, and despite being a bad sleeper she is a good baby (except for her evening witching hour or when she is over tired). She looks healthy, acts healthy so I'm trying not to be worried, but it's hard not to be. Any good thoughts, dust you can spare this afternoon would be great. Hoping it's nothing too serious.
TIA
UPDATE
So the doctor has some mild concerns about her liver based on her bloodwork. Her ALT (anyfelice probably knows what this is) was high, but most other liver function tests were normal or just barely elevated. This could mean some kind of liver damage/disease, but he is very optimistic that it isn't. He ordered an ultrasound which we had done this evening. He should get the report tomorrow. If there is something, we will go forward with more tests, if not they will run the bw again in a month to see if there is a change and if it's getting worse. He is also going to have us come in for a weight check in month to monitor that because she is still in a low percentile and not gaining symmetrically with length and head circumference. He does want me to add a small amount of formula to one bottle of pumped milk a day to see if the extra calories help her put on more weight. We are also still waiting on the newborn screens done that check for metabolic diseases, but he doesn't think that is it. He was so great! He spent close to an hour with us answering all our questions, even those not related to this stuff. I feel like we are in good hands. And since he is optimistic I'm trying to be as well.

Agreed! Lots of good thoughts. "Abnormal" test results can mean any number of things, and are not necessarily bad. Keep us updated!
