she was just mad that we told her we didn't know if she was pregnant. I am sure she'll go to another board and tell everyone how mean the ttgp ladies are.
Ugh... I had just finished typing out a thoughtful, detailed response to her.
People: If you're going to ask a question, don't delete it when you don't like the answers, because someone else might be spending their time writing a thoughtful, helpful answer to you, and by deleting it you're essentially telling those people that you don't value their time or help, which makes you a turd.

I should!
I just have fast fingers... and an innate inability to be concise.

Of course you did.
Yeah, thoughtful and detailed and like the WORST qualities a person can have.
Not every question needs a 3 min paragraph answer. Not that the info isn't informative - but condensing it into a shorter answer wouldn't be a TERRIBLE thing. I'm all about being informed, but most scroll past paragraphs.

I agree Shay, long paragraphs are daunting. But if being too wordy (while trying to be helpful) is her biggest crime...is it really worth the snotty comments? People can post whatever they want, snark who they want, I don't care. It's a public board. I'm not saying kk can't snark someone or say whatever she wants. I just posted my opinion that that's really not something to get all up in arms about, KWIM? That's just my opinion, which probably doesn't mean anything to anyone but I'm free to share my opinion too right?
It seems like anyone who disagrees with kk, anne, sweetgotham, and now, apparently michelle_g, is automatically being argumentative and starting stuff. I don't agree with a lot of what some of these people post these days but I mostly don't say anything because it is a public board and they are free to post what they want. But, I'd like to feel like I'm free to disagree with them without it turning into a big thing. It's OK if people disagree with each other sometimes.

I know I don't need the answer - I'm saying that not everyone needs a 5 paragraph answer to a 1 line question. Again, I'm all for giving relevant information, but short and to the point is sometimes all that is needed.

No one disagreed with me, I was simply just asking for clarification. It gets confusing over here. One day it's too much P&R, then it's Stop Snarking, Bishes. I really don't post often enough to give a crap, to be honest. But clarification would be good.
I couldn't agree more with the 2nd bolded statement. That should be broadcasted more often on the board.

I think the big problem with the board is that it seems that some people are allowed to be snarky and people think it's fab, and then others snark and it's WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU, QUIT BEING A ***. Most of the names you mentioned are actually not very argumentative unless provoked. This is like the 3rd or 4th time I've seen Anne and kk called out for pretty much nothing. When I started on the board, Drive-Bys were flooded with beep beep, PIPs, and overall snark, people who posted asking if they were pregnant got major side eye and PIPs, etc. Snark isn't new and I don't get why suddenly those who snark are getting hated on and called out when it was peachy keen prior.
I'm not trying to snark on Dani, I just think (my opinion, just like you said - everyone has one and can vocalize it) that constant replies of long paragraphs is just going to seem like scripted responses being thrown out just to post or just overwhelming posts all around and not coming off as sincere. Maybe we're missing a lot of info from the Newbie Link if there is a need for such long responses that the link or other posts don't cover.

I'm sorry that you are confused. Lots of people have less than 100 posts. You're an adult, when do you think it's ok to treat people like crap? (everyone's answer will be different here) Again, you're an adult, who do you think should be allowed to treat people like crap? And most importantly, I'm pretty sure no one wins when someone gets treated like crap for posting a simple question. The OP feels like crap and the person doing the snarking looks like a b!tch (which is the prize actually, in case you were wondering).
IMHO, snark should be reserved for pests; people who post questions, get honest answers and yet continue to push and dig b/c they aren't happy with the answers they got, particularly if they throw out words like 'bitter'. Obvious MUD b/c it's sometimes fun to pick on somene and they aren't real so it's a good outlet. And bullies. Snark those who snark unnecessarily. You get to let off some steam without picking on a newb who was just asking a question. But those are my choices. Feel free to make your own.
I'm not sure who I was making feel like crap. Please tell me that I'm the snarky one on the board. Please tell me that I'm not one who welcomes, congratulates, and offers condolences. Tell me that I'm the one who pokes and prods at "newbs" (as I just reached bronze today). I honestly find it funny that I respond to your snark, and I'm played out to be a b!tch.

Oh my apologies. I thought that when someone quoted me in their response, that meant they were addressing said response to me. Especially when words like "you" and "you're" are used. Was that not the intention? Because if not, then I totally misunderstood.
This has turned into an interesting discussion, but I am failing to see how I am some sort of poor shadow of a snark queen because of my posts. I have admittedly only been around for about 2 months and am opinionated, and not always keen on P&R posts. I guess I post the link to the newbie thread a LOT for the new posters, but I wouldn't have considered that snark. The few times I have been called out I am ok with that; I don?t expect or need to be universally liked and am also adult enough to know that some of the things I say or my opinions are not liked by others. But to say I am a bully? Other than MUDS like MLUN or peonypetal, I would classify myself as short, but not a bully. Everyone has a different way they interact with this site.

I might have missed where anyone said any of you were bullies. What I did say is that it seems like if you disagree with anything you guys say, you all get this mob mentality and it's like this whole big drama rather than just what it is, which is one person disagreeing with another person's opinion.

Yes, she was indeed addressing her response to you. But nowhere did she accuse you of anything or "play you out to be a biitch". In fact, she specifically said "the person doing the snarking".
As for the "you" and "you're", it appears to me that she was asking you questions. Was it really so hard to understand?

What's hard for me to understand is why some posters can be a b!tch whenever they want, and when someone else posts something that may be taken as slightly snarky, then it's the end of the TTGP world.

One would think that common sense would help you (this is a general you, just so there is no confusion) determine whether or not it was appropriate. However, I realize that there is no hope for some.

I looked back over at the post I was thinking of and realized I misread it. It was actually, I believe. say it was ok to snark on people who were being bullies, which begs the question, who are the bullies and who gets to identify them.
As for the other point you are making, I personally never expect or ask for anyone to defend me, any 'mob' mentality comes from any sort of collective posting: some people agree with some other people, often for the same reasons. I wouldn't classify the people who are on here saying stuff like 'the new snark is mean and misguided' or whatever as being part of some mob, just that they have a similar opinion. Since I haven't been here long enough to see the ebb and flow between the longer term posters, I really can't say one way or another who these 'groups' are. While I certainly have more contact with some of the women on here than others, it doesn?t automatically make me feel the need to comment of one of their posts; I only do that if I agree.
From what I have witnessed on this site, yes, there are a few ill-defined camps of people but the end result is still a highly dynamic, at times humorous, and informative site. I gladly take the bad with the good and recognize that what my definition of ?bad? is could equally be someone else?s ?good?.

Well, here's the rub. I have what I believe to be an average intellect, the ability to read and comprehend the English language, and an abundance of common sense. However, I don't see the "fail" to which you refer. I don't think these "new snark queens" (I'm guessing Anne? Kiki? Possibly Michelle?) are any more snarky or less appropriate than any of the rest of the people on the board. Heck, there are some grads who make Kiki look like Mother Theresa. So I'm obviously missing something.
Clearly, The Memo would be useful for someone such as myself.

TBH, I don't know the SN's of a lot of the new regs off-hand. I recognize their pictures when they post though. And the fail is in the fact that they routinely snark people with legit questions. You can also see that someone in this very thread tried to snark someone for being *gasp* helpful. Why? What is the point?

Can we vote on the prize? I'd like it to be a positive test.
I'm a little confused (which isn't all that rare). Who has less than 100 posts, when is it ok to snark, who gets to snark, and most importantly... who won?
You don't need to read the answer. It's written for the OP, who likely needs more background info to understand.

It's because the new snark queens royally fail at snarking.
ETA: poor spelling
In her first comment quoting dani, kk, and bbj.
Where in her response did she say you had done any of that? She was asking questions, not pointing fingers.
That was snarky? My bad, I thought she was being sarcastic.
Again, I refer you to my earlier point that the new snark queens fail at snark. There is a time and a place for everything, but apparently they didn't get that memo.
This we agree on.
I didn't get that memo, either.
Can someone please forward me the aforementioned "TIME AND PLACE FOR SNARK" memo? Because I thought their posts were fine.
I noticed! lol (and I agree with you on that 'hubby' thread too but didn't want to be part of the mob and post
)
I know; the shame of it.
*whispers* my husband would totally get an app to track my phantom baby
