Trying to pick an OB/midwife. The gyno recommended GW Medical Faculty Associates, apparently they have integrated midwifery/OB/perinatology. Anyone have thoughts on that? Love your OB? We'd like to use a midwife, but want to make sure there's an OB nearby...
Re: Need an OB Rec (or just general opinions)
I'm at BirthCare in Alexandria, which is less than 10 minutes away from INOVA Alexandria. BirthCare is a group midwife practice and I like them a lot. It's also a good location for other services - my Bradley birth classes are held in the same building, as are La Leche League meetings.
I started out with a group OB practice, Tepeyac, in Falls Church and I liked them a lot too. I only switched because they only deliver at INOVA Fair Oaks and I wanted a birth center experience.
If you want midwives who deliver in hospital, check out Loudan Community Midwives or the DC Birth Center in NE.
My GYN is associated with the OB practice at GW, and I have a meeting with them next week. I realize that's a long time away, but I could report back, and let you know what I think of them. I've heard a lot of good things, but I haven't hunkered down and done my hardcore research yet.
