More specifically, this question is for those of you whose baby was already in the vaginal canal and for whatever reason was not able to crown, prompting a c section.
Was the upper part of your vagina (the part closer to the cervix) "loose" due to the baby's head having been in it? If so, did it tighten back up relatively quickly? Did kegel exercises help?
Did the lower part of your vagina (the vulva) not feel or look any different due to the baby not having crowned?
Sorry if this question seems TMI.
Re: Q for those of you who had a c section after a trial vaginal birth?
DD was in the birth canal and my doc could see her head is she took a peek up there. As far as I can tell, my vag is quite intact with no changes after my c/s.
Do you mind if I ask why you're asking these questions? I'm curious.
I don't know, just that my vagina looked different -- I pushed for 4 hrs and was so stretched out with the nurses trying to stretch me down there and then the failed vacuum attempt -- but after a few months my lady bits regained their normalcy
I don't know for sure that this is the case, but if you're thinking about having a c/s to avoid vag-trauma, I think you're out of your mind. C-sections are major surgeries with major risks and I can tell you from experience that the recovery SUCKS.
The lady bits all go back to normal. Most women experience painful sex after having a kid because things tighten up A LOT after having a baby; it's part of the healing process. Please don't stress about this...having kids is a wonderful gift and it's about bringing a healthy miracle into the world, not what your vagina will look like after the fact. HTH.
Well, I think it'd be a little crazy for nurses to stretch the vagina more than the actual baby...cuz come on, the baby stretches it beyond belief.
Also, you said that things tighten up a lot - I always thought that the vagina stayed a bit looser after childbirth?
Of course a nurse would not stretch you out that much. No one said they would.
