Car seat installation help

Does anyone know where I can go to get help installing my carseat?  I bought a Recaro ProRide Convertible and it sits funny in my Tahoe's seat.  It's tilting the baby too forward.  I called Recaro and they told me to put pool noodles under the seat but when I do that the seat the flops around, it's not snug no matter how much I tighten the belts up.  I put her back in the infant seat until I can get some help with this.  I live in Spring and I called my local fire station and they have certain days where I can come but it's by appointment and I have to remember to call for an appointment and they fill up fast.    I work near downtown but I don't mind driving to anywhere in town to get some professional help.

TIA!

Re: Car seat installation help

  • We went to the substation in Katy at Franz Rd Of course, we lived walking distance from there! It's supposedly by appointment only, but the guy who did the checks was there when we came by to make an appointment, so fixed our install for us right then and there.

    There's also this list:  https://www.texaschildrens.org/carecenters/injuryprevention/childsafety.aspx

  • It's best to get it inspected, but the seat will be able to move "up" and pivot towards the seatback. It just needs to be tight enough that you can not move it more than 1" side-to-side when you hold it at the beltpath. You can find a lot of good information and ask questions at car-seat.org

  • okay, glad I'm not totally installing it incorrectly.  But thanks to the link on the previous poster I was able to snag an appointment today at the Cali location.  Thanks all!
