Should I call the dr??

So I have a low-grade fever.  I just checked it and it's gone up, from 99.5 an hour ago, to 100.7 just now.  I have the chills (seriously, I can't get warm), and I've been feeling a little nauseous all day (I've had my nausea come back from time to time during 3rd tri).  I've been having lower abdominal cramps (had those last week but they went away after a few days), and my lower back is hurting quite a lot today.

I don't know the after-hours number for the doctor's office (yes, bad pg mama), but I would hate to go to the ER for something that can clear up on its own in a couple of days.

Should I go to the ER??

Re: Should I call the dr??

  • Have you tried calling your doctor's office's main line? Mine has a recording with the after hours number. Or you could call the hospital the dr. is affiliated with and see if they maintain a list of the after hours number for the doctors.

  • I probably wouldn't go to the ER, but I'd call your OB in the morning.  Sounds like the start of a stomach bug and you should definitely tell your OB

  • My hospital has an extension for a L&D triage nurse. So you can ask any questions and then they will advise you if you should come in. Maybe try that?

This.  Even your regular number should give you an emergency number option.

  • Thanks ladies.  You were right :)  I was able to get the after hours number from the regular number.  I am just waiting for the on-call doctor to call me back.

  • That stinks!!! Get some rest, stay hydrated and I hope you hear from the on call Dr soon!

  • Just heard from the on-call dr.  He said that as long as I don't have any associated symptoms, such as a respiratory infection or nausea/vomiting, I'm okay (and LO is okay).  If the temp reaches to 103-104, then that's when it becomes an issue.  I'm just to take Tylenol and get some rest.

And right before the dr called, I took my temp again and it was down to 99.8, so that's good!!
