Grey's Anatomy Question.. (possible spoiler)

Well only a possible spoiler if you haven't watched the episode 2 weeks ago.

My question is this: I consider myself pretty even emotionally when it comes to dealing iwth pregnancy among friends. One of my best friends is pregnant, and I couldn't be happier. Not too much bothers me, because I always knew that some day, my H and I would be parents, one way or another.

BUT.... Meredith has been thru some IF treatments (although they seemed to be just randomly mentioned like the injection in the elevator). She is trying to adopt a baby, knowing she can't have her own. And her BF is upset because she wants an abortion.

1)- she must be a better friend than I, because I would literally disown that friend (also b/c I am myself adopted, so obviously, pro-life... side bar, I know)

2)- I really don't feel like ABC did a very good job of addressing the IF situation and dealing with it as far as real life. Which irritates me, because they HAVE dealt with other real life situations (military, gay marriage, the list goes on and on). It irks me that this situation was so easily brushed over.

Leads me to my question. WWIFD? If your absolute BFF came to you saying they were having an abortion, would you be able to remain friends? I guess I am just a bad person, because deep down, I don't think I could ever do that. Again, I think some of that stems from the fact that my Biological egg donor tried to abort me, so it makes me more sensitve.

Let's hear it ladies!

I have to agree with you - the s/l did bother me. I actually remember watching the scene when Owen went with Christina to have the abortion...I looked at MH and cringed!! As someone who has struggled for sooo long to have a baby, it was a bit too "real" for me seeing her get rid of hers.

Also, I don't think they handled the IF issue with Mer/Der well at all - it was practically none-existent. I just think it would be a perfect way to educate people on the issue. Maybe Shonda and crew will do better dealing with it in Private Practice with Addison. And I do think that IRL, Mer would probably would have some feelings about Christina aborting her baby. Interestinly, this is the second pregnancy for Christina - she m/c the first which was Burkes.

I agree with you. I think ABC really messed this up. Abortion should NOT be a form of birth control. Two grown drs for that matter. The show almost made it seem OK. I think Meredith is too wrapped up in her own problems to worry/ react to her BFF's issues.

I am glad I am not the only person irritated by this. And I am also hoping that they handle it a little better on Private Practice as well, although, IMO up to this point, Addison has looked like a whiner in some circumstances leading up to this point. Buuuuuttttt, hopefully it turns around.

And I kinda want to punch Yang in the face. That's totally not the horomones talking at all.... LOL

DH and I are a season behind on Grey's. We are currently watching last season. But I did read about Christina's abortion and am not sure if I can continue to watch, because the thought of the abortion upsets me so much. If my bff had an abortion while I Was struggling with IF and trying to adopt I would be devestated and probably never talk to her again.
