Trying to Get Pregnant

is it against the rules to..(temp ques)

change thermometers halfway through my cycle? This is my first month charting, and I'm using a walgreens thermometer. I've been reading and apparently this thermometer sucks..which i was starting to think anyways..

will it drastically affect my chart to switch to a new one?

  • It is generally advised to not switch mid-cycle because it can throw off your chart.  I would wait if you can hold out. :)

  • Speaking from experience, I would recommend holding out. Look at my current chart. You can clearly see where I switched, as my new thermometer tends to register quite a bit lower than my old one. Thankfully, I switched during the middle of my FP, so the drop in temps didn't make a huge difference, but could you imagine if I switched during my LP? I'd be thinking my temps had dropped and AF was on her way. Or if I had switched right around O, I might not have seen a spike. Or if the new thermometer registered higher instead of lower, I my chart might falsely show an ovulation spike where none was actually present. There are million other scenarios where it could have messed with it a lot more than it did. Bottom line, best to wait.
