Ways to Announce to Family and Friends

I was just wondering how people were planning on announcing the pregnancy to their family and friends. I of course (this being my first pregnancy) have told my mom and family.

I am due June 2nd and if all goes well my first trimester will be done on Thanksgiving. We live abroad and are hosting a big party with all of our friends and co-workers and I cannot think of a better time to plan the announcement!

Anyone else have ideas on how they are going to break the news?

I am doing a family photo shoot with DS in his "I'm going to be a big brother" shirt... Then I'm going to do the visa ad idea.. Kind of corny.. but I like it! We'll have a family photo.. a photo of DS where you can really read his shirt and a photo of all of our feet lined up with a pair of baby shoes on the end. All this will be collaged up and the writing will say "Camera - $2,000.... New shirt for Braden - $15.... Telling everyone we love there's actually 4 people in this picture - Priceless".. I'll just upload the photo and let people figure it out!

PS: I'm a photographer.. hence the somewhat outrageous camera price!

That's absolutely adorable! I have ideas in my head but nothing is final. Definitely want to do the photo of our feet with baby shoes next to me (saw this on someone else's siggy). For mom, giving her an initial for her charm bracelet (has her grandkids' initials). Will have to get her a letter for our last name or a "B" for baby, then exchange it for the actual initial when paper is born.

Wow, cute ideas you guys!

I will be exactly 12 weeks on Thanksgiving so I think we will host it and tell our families then since we'll have everyone together. Not sure how yet though. Maybe DH can pull a copy of the ultrasound out of the turkey? Sounds messy.

For extended family & friends I was thinking about sending a Christmas card and signing it "Love- Joe, Sarah, & Baby Z".

Either way, I'm super excited, and I'll be so thankful to get to that point!

We are going pretty simple - I am trying to think super positive this time and bought a onesie to give to my parents - this is their first gc.

(changed to June 2012). We will prob just call my mil & fil since they are out of state. The rest of the family will find out once we open to floodgates and tell our parents it is ok to share.

We've invited both sets of parents over to "watch football" in November (neither fam lives close).My husband is a HUGE Apple geek. Every time our folks visit, he shows them the newest Apple product. Sometimes he even makes them watch commercials/marketing videos. Our plan is to pretend we're going to show them a video introducing a new Apple product, but then make a video teaser trailer for Baby P, coming 6.3.11.

If I can keep my mouth shut and/or my mother doesn't ruin the surprise by saying something rude and hateful, we plan on having our little guy wear something on Christmas Eve.

He will be 18 months old then and he is picking up on words like crazy. He can say (among other things) the words 'baby' & 'mom' and he knows what and where a tummy is. We hope to get him saying the word tummy soon so he can tell everyone on Christmas Eve a version of, "Baby in Mom's tummy."

It will be hilarious because he's probably going to say it all weird but he'll be so excited to get attention from everyone.
