I just got back from my eye doctor's because I've had a blurry/dark spot in my vision since last night. I figured it was nothing, but got it checked out just to be safe. My dr. is sending me to a retinal specialist tomorrow because there's obvious swelling in my retina, which can cause blindness.
And, if that wasn't enough fun, he thinks it might be caused by something systemic/inflammatory in my blood, which obviously has possible implications for our LO, which is why he's taking this so seriously.
I'm trying not to worry, but it's hard not to. So far, being PgAL is even harder than I ever imagined.

You know, my friend A had a routine eye exam early in her pregnancy that found something similar, and it turned out to be caused by an auto-immune disease she was completely unaware of. While there was a potential implication for her son, she was able to have extra monitoring and all was perfectly well, and now she's able to follow up on her condition before it becomes problematic.
I hope it's similar for you, scary as things are now.

When I as 13w I went to the eye doc because of blurry vision and floaters thinking it wasn't a big deal. I ended up having a swollen optic nerve and had to get an MRI to check for brain tumors. It was the scariest thing ever. Luckily it was something much less serious and easily controlled/watched and had no affect on LO. I hope yours turns out to be something way less scary!
