However with DS I had to tell my boss at 8 wks to explain all my missed sick days (i had really bad m/s and it took a little playing with my doc to get the right meds and doses to function)
We don't plan on telling anyone at all until I make it out of 1st Tri. We moved accross the country from both of our families and all of our friends, and I haven't met anyone here yet, so fortunately (or unfortunately) the secret should be easy to keep.

For the general public and extended family, I won't be telling until I start to show. I have a couple of close friends and family members who will know right away, because as a PP said, good or bad outcome, I'd want their support.
Work is a tricky one for me. I work in food service, and if I get morning sickness, I may have to tell early, because there will be no way of discreetly running away to get sick. If I don't get morning sickness, then I'll just tell 2nd tri, before I start to show.

With DD, our parents and my bff knew right away. We told a few other friends along the way and then outed ourselves on FB on Thanksgiving since I was 13w3d then! I thought it was appropriate.

We let everyone know within the first week we found out. I figured if anything bad should happen, I'd want their support either way.
This is me. I feel like the people I tell will be a great support if something were to happen. I told my parents and family and hour after I got my BFP with my DS.
I have a shirt for Max that has one big dinosaur and one small dinosaur that says, "I'm going to be a big brother." We are going to announce it at or weekly family dinner when it does happen. So I may have to wait up to a week, but not much longer.

If I am lucky enough to be in that position, I think I'd tell my boss right away in case something goes wrong or I'm sick a lot, but ask her to keep it on the DL till I'm ready to share with everybody else. Not sure about family. I haven't given that part any thought yet. I'm kind of a weirdo like that... Probably would want to wait a while to tell the MIL - she'd be all up in my business even though she lives 1100 miles away! Very bossy lady.

No way I'd be able to keep it from my mom. We're too close. Probably family and close friends that could keep their mouths shut, and the rest of the world at 12 weeks or so. We'll see if that holds up. One thing I AM going to do is turn my facebook wall off so we're not accidentally outed, and tell everyone we know not to post about it (which should be a given but, you know). That happened with our engagement and it was disappointing.
With DS we told everyone the night we found out... For the next one I am considering waiting until 14 weeks (2nd trimester) but DH doesn't care either way.
