Trying to Get Pregnant

Do you change your diet when TTC?

Just curious if anyone has changed their way of eating while TTC? Do you do this all the time or just during ovulation? I know there are not any "miracle" foods... but wanted to ask!

If so, what are the changes you make? Cut back on caffeine?

 Would love to hear!

Re: Do you change your diet when TTC?

  • I haven't really changed too much. I eat healthy regardless. the biggest difference is adding my prenatals, calcium, omega 3 supplements. I also drink OJ every morning beacuse it has natural folic acid in it and stay away from most soda. All you really can do is eat healthy, exercise a little bit, and take your vitamins in terms of a diet.

there a lot of wives tales out there, and perhaps some work for some people. I prefer to stick with eating lean meats, whole grains, and fruits and veggies!

  • I have been avoiding diet coke. It's been touch kicking my 4-5 cans a day habit... but I havent had any in several weeks. I also switched to halfcaf coffee in the am.

  • I just added POM juice and green tea (to be honest on CD8 I'm noticing more EWCM than ever before not sure if it's a coincidence or if the green tea is really working?)  I haven't changed anything in terms of food because I try to eat healthy anyway (for the most part).  During the 2ww I switch to decaf coffee and try to not drink alcohol as much - try key word.

  • I'm drinking green tea (before O), pom juice, and more water. I don't know whether any of this will work, but since I like all them anyway, I figure why not?

  • Limiting my caffeine intake is the only real big change I've made thus far.  And making sure to be really good about vitamins.  I'm horrible at remembering to take pills, despite having been on BC for years.  Oops? :P

  • Apart from adding a PNV, I haven't really changed my diet. I didn't really drink a lot of soda or eat junk food before TTC. I'm trying to really up my water intake, though, because I don't have a lot of CM, and green tea didn't really work for me.

  • I started drinking green tea before O. Also I am taking PNV, Follic Acid, and Fish Oil.

I have yet to start POM, but I might try it out next cycle

  • I changed my diet pretty drastically about a year prior to TTC.  I eliminated most processed foods and have increased my intake of fresh fruits, veggies and whole grains.  I really wanted to make a healthy lifestyle a habit before getting pg.  Since actively TTC I haven't changed anything else.

  • I've been limiting caffeine to one serving a day, staying away from soda and alcohol, and trying to limit my intake of refined sugar. Other than that, just trying to meet the daily requirements of fruits and vegetables, lean meat, low-fat dairy, etc. I'm not always perfect, but definitely keeping my future in mind when I eat. I haven't begun with a PNV yet, but am taking a multi and fish oil.

  • It sounds silly, but I've upped my dairy intake as well as eating more sweet potatoes because I read it might increase chances for multiples.
