Now I'm a bit worried (wwyd)

I'm not the type to freak out or call the doc unless I'm really feeling like something is not a little but majorly wrong.

There has been a few posts regarding decreased movement and I've read up on it and it's quite normal to have some quieter days.

But my little girl has barely moved in 3 days now and I'm getting really worried. I don't even feel her when I rub my belly or drink some soda...

So obviously it's always best to call the doc and ease your mind but I don't want to be the crazy person who's overreacting.

I know some of you have been through similar, was it for this long? What did your doc say?

Thanks so much!!

Re: Now I'm a bit worried (wwyd)

  • Neither of my pregnancy's have they been big movers.  My daughter was breech so you don't feel as much and with this one there are times that I start to get a little worried, but then the baby will do something so that puts my mind at ease.  I was also just at the Dr. the other day and heard the heart beat and he was very happy with it so that also puts my mind at ease.

Have you been busy that you are just not aware that the baby is moving?  I have also had times like that, but when I sit down and just relax I will really feel the baby move then.

I will end with this though...when in doubt it does not hurt to call.

  • My inclination would be to say that movement is still an off and on thing at this point.  However, if you're truly concerned, call your doctor.  If you want to try another test to get her to move, put something cold on your belly.  Usually that'll get baby to react, but not always.

  • Definately check with the doctor to ease your worries.  I have quieter days still at 27 weeks but as long as you are still feeling movement I bet you are ok.  Try lying on your belly (sometimes the pressure will make the baby move and you will feel it more).  Also I notice when I move alot the baby is quiet (have you been really active?) and when I am stressed or worried, the baby is quiet too.  Always nice to be sure with your own doctor's advice though!
  • Around this time (in the mid 20 week range) you'll have some decreased movement days, so it is normal, but if you are at all worried, call your OB. I think it's much better for you to have a piece of mind. Even if you just go in and they do the doppler, you'll feel better. :) When in doubt, def. call the OB. :)

  • Sawyer is pretty active and moves at least 5-10 times a day, so I know that for me, if he didn't move for more than 12 hours I'd be calling my OB.
  • I don't know if you're a FTM or not - I am so this is still all so new to me.  I have had a few times where it's been a couple of days that I haven't felt him but when I do finally feel him my mind has been put at ease.  Are you feeling her at all?  Just barely?  If I've understood correctly, she can be going tthrough or getting ready to go to a growth spurt.  IMO, nothing will ease your mind more than calling your doctor of finally feeling some good movements.  There is no harm in calling your doctor and expressing your concerns.

    Good luck...keep us posted!!

  • I'd probably call and just check in.  I think we are around the time where we can here on a stethoscope the HB - but since I don't really know what it means or what i'm listening for I'd probably just called to be sure, you'll feel better :)

  • i would try drinking some ice cold water or oj and then lay down quietly for a bit to see if you feel anything. i know that usually gets my little guy up and jumping.

i say call your ob if you are still worried or lo still isnt moving. that is what they are there for!

  • I think that if you drink OJ or something sugary and you don't feel it. Turn the tv off and pay attention. There should be 10 good movements in 2 hours is the guideline I was given. If you don't feel it, call your OB and go get checked out, even if you feel like you're overreacting, it's better to overreact then do nothing.

  • Thank you all so much!

I've tried it all, drinking cold water, orange juice, soda, chocloate, spicy, I woud lay on my left side, jiggle my belly, play music and still nothing...

Just 2 little flutters yesterday that I barely felt.... And the last 3 weeks she's been kicking up a storm. I sit at my desk all day so it's not like I move and don't notice.

I just called the OB office and the nurse was super sweet and told me to just come in this PM and she'll listen to the heartbeat just to make sure. She did say most likely everything is fine given my gestational age, but since it is a bit of a drastic difference she'd like to make sure.

    thanks for your support!

  • I did not know that if you baby was breech you didn't feel as much. But that makes me feel better. I didn't feel her at all until 21 weeks, now I do, but not every day and last Dr. apt they said she was breech. I'm 23 weeks now and love feeling her!

  • I find that if this baby is super mover for a few days, he likes to sleep a bit more for a few days to "recover". I don't think they worry about movement until a little later on in the pregnancy.

But when in doubt always call your doctor.
