Movement frequency

Questions -

  • Do you feel baby every day, or do you have days where you feel nothing at all? (I feel LO every day, but some days more than others)
  • When LO starts moving for you, do you get a few kicks then quiet for a while, or minutes of constant kicking? (mostly I get a few kicks in a row and then quiet for a while, but there have been a few times with movement for minutes at a time)
  • Roughly how many kicks do you get per day?

Just trying to gauge the level of movement I'm at compared to you guys. I hear about people feeling movement "all the time" but what does that mean? I mean there must be quiet time, so what does "all the time" mean to you?

As a first time mom I freak about everything. Before 20 weeks it was every ache and pain. I finally got over that, and now it's "am I feeling enough movement"? I have this feeling being pregnant with #2 must be easier because you know what to expect (kinda).

Re: Movement frequency

  • I don't think we're suppose to keep track until 28 weeks and from what I've read, the dr will tell you how to do that. I feel LO kick more so at night than during the day. Some days she's really mellow, like last night, and didn't move much at all. Well let me rephrase that, I don't feel her move. Sometimes if I have a panic moment of "Is she moving?" I just pull out my doppler and listen to her roll around.

  • 2 weeks ago I went to hardly feeling anything do daily movement. He's a pretty predictable mover too but I still panic occasionally if it's been a few hours. With my first, movement was sporadic for a long time. The pp is right. My OB said it's usually hit and miss until 27 weeks and that's when you really need to do kick counts.

  • And all the time for me means every few hours he'll start to move and wiggle. There are obviously times when he sleeps and is quiet.

  • My LO hasn't been predictable with me yet, but even on a "slow" day I'll feel him at least once a day now.  I feel him in the mornings, especially right before lunch.  But I will on occassion feel him a few more times during the day.  However, he'll usually only move a few times and then be still for hours.  He also likes to move around for a while when I go to bed, but I figure that's because I switch to a laying down position.

  • She is very active and I usually feel her every day at certain times of the day. However, the past two days she has been a little sleepier or something and has not been as predictable with her movements. I read that you shouldn't be concerned about daily movement until 28 weeks.

  • I feel her everyday but much moreso at night. First thing in the morning, late afternoon, right before bed, and about 4:00 am. And when she is active she is VERY active. Rolls and flips and hard kicks. Far more active than my first DD! So every LO is different. I felt very little movement with my first. P

  • I don't count kicks or anything but she tends to be most active about 10-20 mintues after I eat, in the later evening when I'm watching TV and when I go to bed.  Yesterday I noticed that she wasn't as active as she has been but I figure it's probably just her position.  I also notice that I feel her movements more in my lower abdomen, just above the pubic line, however, I think that my be because my placenta is at the "top" of my uterus.

I've also noticed that she tends to be very active when I'm at church.  She's not usually really active in the morning but Tuesday at Bible study she was kicking the crap outta me.  Last night at my other Bible study she was quite active as well.  It was at service on a Sunday morning that I felt her move for the first time.  I guess she's just a church baby!
