There's a long list & I'm only through the C's: For a girl, narrowed down:
Adelyn Adin Ansleigh Ashtyn Carsyn
If it's a boy it'll be Jack. Somehow that was easy. We just need a middle name...
Yeah, TB is pretty judgemental about any names that could even be considered remotely unique. I really don't think your names are all that "unique," though. I know someone with almost every name on your list... just spelled a little differently.
Adelyn - LOVE IT
Adin - Pretty, although people will probably want to spell it "the boys way," and I've only ever heard of it as a boy's name
Ansleigh - Love it. I wanted Ainsley on our list, I think it's beautiful, but my hubs thought kids would call her "Anus." Awesome.
Ashtyn - I know a girl named Ashton, and it's so beautiful and fits her perfectly. She's super classy.
Carsyn - NMS, but not awful. Another name, that upon hearing, people will probably assume "boy."
FWIW, I think some of your names are really pretty. Also, as you've probably figured out, you're not going to get support for unusual names on TB. I think it's best to run names by people who know you well, because on one hand, you obviously want feedback, but on the other hand, you want to go with a name that YOU will be happy with. People who know you and are open-minded about names will probably give you better advice.

Off-topic (b/c this thread is dead, my friends), but your bump is adorable. I'm also 13 weeks and my belly just looks deformed. Not in a cute, deformed-by-the-baby kind of way. Jealous!

You can spell the names however you want, it's just how you said the whole facebook thing. That makes it kind of redonkulous. If we are having a girl the name will be Kellie (which isn't typical spelling of Kelly). But we just didn't like it spelled that way.

I can't say I spend a ton of time on the baby names board, but every time I've lurked there's a thread where people are bashing unusual names. Seems pretty obvious to me, but maybe I've only wandered into that board when those threads are going on. Anyway, TB is not where I'll go for baby name advice!

And I appreciate that. Most of my friends don't have kids yet so I don't have a good idea of what kids are named these days. I really don't care about the spellings & I hate extra obnoxious Ys too, but I just pulled them directly of TB's baby name page. It's more that I want to name my kid something I don't associate with anyone.

Check out the baby names board, and the social security lists by year.
He wants our baby to have a more stereotypical name such as Sarah or Jessica whereas I'd like something a little more unique. Nothing over the top, but I just don't want our kid to be "Sarah B" as opposed to "Sarah M" or "Sarah S" while going through school. There were 5 kids named Alex (guys & girls) in my middle school class!
Uh.. okay? Yeah... they are common names... but how the heck does that make them stereotypical?
My name happens to be Jessica, and yeah i have about 4 other friends with the name Jessica, and it didn't bother us in the least little bit. It was actually fun at times. Im just speaking for a girl that happens to have a stereotypical name....

I have to agree with JFH2010. I thought your names were very pretty as well, however, I am not fond of Carsyn. The point is, the people on this board don't have to be fond of your child's name. You should pick a name that you want to give your child that is going to reflect who they are. I named my daughter Harmony 9 years ago. There are no other Harmony's in her class and she's only met 1 or others her whole life. Some say it's a 70's name, some ask if I'll name my next daughter Melody, but the fact is I love Harmony's name and so does she. It is perfect for her personality!

haha no We are actually naming a girl after my sister Kelly. (she died when she was 18 months old)
Aren't you just making names up though? I've never heard of any of those names.
I mean, obviously we can take any word, or even something that isn't a word at all and call our children that.
I don't think it's particularly fair to our children though, as they have to grow up with these "names" and get made fun of when nobody can spell or pronounce them. I was one of three Lauras in my class at school but believe me I'd rather that than be called something obscure.
just my opinion though.
maybe you and boyfriend can come to an agreement on a name that's actually a real name, but less common?

Also, as you've probably figured out, you're not going to get support for unusual names on TB.

Most
of the names she has listed aren't particularly unusual. They just have a
lot of random y's thrown in where they are unnecessary. The only name that I think the "y" works in is Adelyn.
Ditto the second paragraph. And to the OP if people on a message board saying things about your name choices makes you want to cry, then I can't imagine how you would handle criticism in person. I know plenty of people with names of all kinds for their kids get all kinds of remarks said to them about their choice. FWIW I don't like most of your choices. You say you don't want your kid being "FirstName A", but if you named her Adelyn, there's a high chance she won't be the only Addy on her soccer team, class, etc.
My advice? Don't think of a cute name to name your baby. Think of the fact you're creating & preparing a human for society. Imagine your child not only as a baby, but an adolescent, a young adult, and even middle aged. What are your goals for this person, and what do you hope they become? How will their name carry them? Will it weigh them down?
I'm sorry, but I side with your husband too. I don't really like names with misplaced "y's" and love the more "traditional" baby names. We picked "Andrew" because it is a classic -- and I don't really care that there are many others named Andrew. He's my Andrew, which makes him special to me.
That said, Adelyn is pretty and I know quite a few babies with that name these days. The names you picked are actually the more common ones in today's classrooms (since that is something you are concerned about). Now a name like "Lisa" (my name!), that's a name that's getting rarer and rarer!

yeah... i was definitely kidding about the facebook thing... it's a shame you ladies can't judge my sarcasm on a forum... you're really missing out
What are you talking about? There are tons of unusual names that get brought up on the Baby Names board that people love.
Most of the names she has listed aren't particularly unusual. They just have a lot of random y's thrown in where they are unnecessary. The only name that I think the "y" works in is Adelyn.
I didn't read your original post until after you got caught up in the Phetus debate which put you off my radar
fair enough. But my first post was an honest response.

In this case it is, but I'm going to make sure I speak to the teacher before school so she knows it silent.
FeetdashUs is just a silly name!
Check out the baby names board, and the social security lists by year.
Uh.. okay? Yeah... they are common names... but how the heck does that make them stereotypical?
My name happens to be Jessica, and yeah i have about 4 other friends with the name Jessica, and it didn't bother us in the least little bit. It was actually fun at times.
Im just speaking for a girl that happens to have a stereotypical name....
I never said it wasn't popular, all I said was I don't see it as commonly in school as I do some of the names she suggested.

I like Sarah, is simple, fresh, easy to write and remember.
Sarah
I have to agree with JFH2010. I thought your names were very pretty as well, however, I am not fond of Carsyn. The point is, the people on this board don't have to be fond of your child's name. You should pick a name that you want to give your child that is going to reflect who they are. I named my daughter Harmony 9 years ago. There are no other Harmony's in her class and she's only met 1 or others her whole life. Some say it's a 70's name, some ask if I'll name my next daughter Melody, but the fact is I love Harmony's name and so does she. It is perfect for her personality!
Good luck finding a name you both like!
haha no
We are actually naming a girl after my sister Kelly.
