I feel like I'm the only mom who doesn't get all bent out of shape when my baby needs to get her shots. Yes, I feel bad for her that she's in pain and doesn't know why, but I know that it's for the greater good and that she will forget about the pain in like 5 or 10 minutes. Shots are such a minor blip in their lives...if that's the worst thing my baby has to deal with during her first year, I feel very lucky!

I feel the same exact way!
ETA: I should add that before her 2 month shots, I was nervous bc everyone on TB made this huge deal about them. DD cried for a few seconds and that was it. I hope the rest of her shots are like that
I refuse to let me baby ever run around in just a diaper (with no socks or shirt) unless headed to the tub and am sort of judgy when others do.
I totally agree with this.
Of course I know that vaccinations are for the greater good, and she'll forget about the pain, but I did cry when dd got her 2 month shots. Sorry, just couldn't help it!

2. I look forward to not sleeping with MH - he's on shift every 3rd day and the bed is MINE!
I think they look sooo uncomfortable!! We actually have one and DS hasn't been in it any longer than a couple minutes at a time, because he looks miserable!

Yes!! My SIL couldn't even be in the room with her first when he got his shots and would have my BIL go with her or my MIL. I didn't LIKE my baby getting shots, but I know he's not going to remember it and it's just what has to be done!
Also, I would imagine it doesn't make it any easier for the baby when the mom is crying too!!
Mine: Sometimes I like the MUD on other boards. Even when I think it's stupid or lame, it can be kind of fun seeing people get so worked up. I just get a kick out of it. That being said, I would NEVER do it myself (especially not in the form of an AE) because that is really ridiculous, imo. If someone else wants to be ridiculous, I'll check it out and laugh along. The only time it has made me down right angry was the one who said her DD died of SIDS. That just took it to a whole new awful level that no one should ever touch!
I hate Star Wars, in all forms and variations. Actually most of the sci fi genre annoys me. I also don't get the whole Godfather craze, I think it's dumb.

I live outside of Boston. I'm happy that the Red Sox blew it last night. I'm so sick of watching baseball, the season is way to long.
bahahahaha
I do hate that there's a game on pretty much every day. And I end up having to watch it. I usually make MH flip back and forth between the game and something else...but then I just miss most of that something else.

Me too. LO cried for 5 min total, and it really wasn't a big deal watching him get them anyways.

I am a teacher and HATE the teacher's union. They got three HORRIBLE teachers rehired based on a technicality with their firing procedures. They have been boasting since the summer about how great this is. UMMMM, now three HORRIBLE teachers are back in the classroom (one on my team and she is awful). I am pretty sure no one in this situation has won anything, the poor kids have really lost out.
I refuse to let me baby ever run around in just a diaper (with no socks or shirt) unless headed to the tub and am sort of judgy when others do.
Haha I sort of feel the same way but C is such a hot box all the time she spends a lot of time in just a diaper when we are at other people's houses who don't run the ac. She just gets SO mad if she is hot, which she is most of the time.
In fact we went to Walgreens the other day and she had only been wearing a diaper in her carseat and I told MH we needed to put her clothes on because we looked white trash just taking her in in her diaper... he didn't care. Oh well.

I want to quit breastfeeding but I have this guilt that if I stop my mother will judge me and something will go wrong with my baby and I'll end up blaming myself (although that most likely wouldn't be the reason for anything going wrong). I also only want to keep bf-ing so MIL can't feed LO. I also don't like the time commitment and how after 9 months of giving up so much I still feel tied down.

I'm a teacher too. I have debated whether to join the union this year. I think it will save me some money by not joining. I do agree with you- There are a lot of bad teachers that only keep their jobs because they are in the union (our Union president, for example---horrible teacher...).
I get really tired of all the fear-mongering regarding parenting (and sometimes, I think TB is totally guilty of this). Sure, we all love our babies and want to do things right but there are a lot of things that people get really hung up on that are not worth worrying about IMO. Sorry ladies, but the "never put a bib on your baby when in the car" was one of those to me. I know I was in the minority by the thread but I just don't see how that's super-risky.

I think febreeze is gross. Spraying some flowery crap on your stuff does not make it clean. The commercials where they spray it then take a huge whiff make me gag. And the new commercials where the people are in the disgusting room but don't realize it--just shows how febreeze is not a substitute for cleaning!!

lol. Admits to thinking about that when I tuck my DD's bib under her chest straps of her carseat. There's no way that thing is flapping up though.

Oops, forgot to add... I never cry during dd's shots. I felt kid of bad about that but now I don't since I'm not alone Also, I'm a charter school teacher and therefore not in the union. Fine by me. In Chicago I see the union do nothing of use (although I know that's not really the case). To me they just promote the idea that teachers are such martyrs, and I kind of hate that attitude. Yes the job is hard and we don't generally get paid too well. If you don't like it then leave, or do something to make it better. Whining is not that something.

I hate when people ask a question on the bump and people just go off on some tirade. Like for example on "Working Moms" some lady asked about bring her LO to work with her 2 wks pp and how to address it with the company now that they have changed their mind. Hello, this is not an opportunity to bash the girl for return to work 2 wks PP. If she thinks she can great. If you can help her with question even better. But if you have nothing to contribute except to make her feel bad for going back to work early then just shut up!

I feel the same way!! And my older son is in a phase right now where he seems to think it's the best thing in the world to take off all of his clothes and run around the house in his underwear. Drives.me.crazy. Part of me thinks he does it just to bug me, I'll walk out of the room for 2 minutes & come back in, boom! naked! ugh-then I spend the next 5 minutes wrestling him back into clothes.

I was right there with you on that one. We also have a mirror on the seat back, so that I can see D. It was extremely beneficial in the first few weeks, because otherwise we would never have known that when he was sleeping, he'd slump and the strap would press against his neck.

I use one type of febreze, and one only - the antibacterial version of the fabric refresher. It's great for when D spits up, and it gets on the couch, because our cushions/covers aren't removeable in any way, shape or form.
Now for MY UO.
.I don't believe in 100% baby-proofing a home. Locking cupboards so something dangerous can't be gotten into? Fine. Putting rubber bumpers on every corner? A little extreme. The kid bumps his head a couple of times, and he learns to stay away. You can't force everyone you visit to do the same to their home, so why not teach them about common dangers so they learn to avoid them?
And yes, I know that sharp corners can be dangerous - I have a scar below my eyebrow from bashing my eye socket off a dresser corner and splitting my face open so I needed stitches. I STILL believe what I do.
I think nose rings and tongue rings (or any facial piercing for that fact) looks trashy.
(And I used to have both pierced. Funny how ten years changes your perspective.)
I hear ya there. I'm 30 now, and when I see someone my age with it I think grow up. To me that's the rebellious teen stuff....

We have mirrors on the backseat in both cars. K's had two incidents where we've had to pull over to the side of the road and check on her to make sure she isn't choking and can breathe. Now that we have the mirrors we can tell if it's something we need to pull over right away for.
My UO...
I'm strongly considering K's Easter Baskets being filled with fruits and healthy snacks instead of candy....same for Halloween. That way she's getting a good nutritional start early on. I know others will tell me to lighten up that it's only one day.... But it's my choice, and I'd rather show her healthy alternatives to everything.

I completely agree and I plan to do the same. My best friend's son things fruit is dessert and I love that! He was so excited to get strawberries and watermelon when he was at my house last. This WILL be an issue with my junk food IL's though...

OMG could not agree with you more. There are so many things to worry about as a parent, can we please just keep the worrying to stuff that actually has a greater than 1% chance of causing an issue for our kid?? I'm specifically referring to crib bumpers with that one btw, the # of kids that "could" potentially have died because of having a bumper on their crib is literally less than one half of one half of one percent per year.
And I agree with the shots thing. Yes it hurts them, but it is for a split second and they won't remember it so who cares? I don't fault anyone for being overly sad/concerned for their LO on it but I don't really get it.
