  • 1. The whole cloth diaper thing annoys me. To each their own, but I think it's gross.

    2. Don't touch my belly without permission, unless you're most of my family and a few certain friends. Trust me, you'd know if you were on the list.

    3. While touching my belly, don't remark about how small it still is. Those who really know me, will know that the belly went up (and killed my curvy waist), before it started coming out.

    4. I'm tired of emails (and posts, sorry) where people don't use decent grammar. No, I do not expect perfection, I am guilty of mistakes (who isn't!), but legibility would be great. :) (I'm talking every word misspelled, no punctuation, 10 mile long run-on sentences that make no sense.)

    5. I might be pregnant, but that doesn't mean you don't need to respect my pesonal space. No, I don't want your coffee-breath and muffin crumb face 3 inches from mine... ever.

    6. Just because I'm pregnant doesn't mean that every opinion I have is hormone-infulenced. When I'm having a fit of hormones (like today!), you WILL know. So please, don't dismiss my ideas and opinions just because I'm growing a person. It's degrading, and it makes you look stupid.

    7. If my MIL tells me I'm having a boy "because Shaw boys don't have girls" one more d@mn time, I WILL lose it. A boy would be great, don't get me wrong... but I hate being told that having a girl is impossible. The hubs and I want to tell her, "No, honey, it's not. You have no medical degree, it's a 50/50 chance, and you look like an idiot when you say it loudly in public." (we won't, to keep the peace, but we'd like to!)

Thank you for letting me vent. :)

  • I don't like the "It's a......" posts I mean just put it in the title why do we have to open a post to see lol at first when people were finding out early it was fun but now these are a dime a dozen and the suspense they are trying to create just isn't working!

  • 1.  Im am SO sick and tired of hearing about everyone's anxiety about every little thing. ie. I have my scan in 2 hours and Im so worried something is wrong.  Seriously? Why would you bother worrying yourself sick all the time with little or no reason to do so? Why not enjoy your pregnancy and just relax about it.  Im a firm believer that if you constantly worry and think about what you dont want to happen, its gonna happen! Plus wheres the logic? Whats agonizing going to do for you? Nature is nature, you cant change it.  I havent worried for one second in my pregnancy and the doc told me on monday that the kid is in better health than he or I and everything is perfect.

    2. Stupid question posts (not from our board) like "will balloons popping hurt my babies hearing?" REALLY? Read a god d@mn book once in a while... are you really that dumb?

    3.  People coming up to me and touching my belly? Really?!? Can I touch your beer gut and make stupid comments when I dont even know you?

Im sure Im missnig more, lol thats all I have for now.

  • Hehe Lancys post pretty much made my day.

I, for one, will be using cloth diapers and totally agree, to each their own. But if I hear one more time that I am crazy and it's soooo hard from someone who has not had a kid in more than 20 years I'll scream.

Same goes for natural child birth, I want to do it, yes I'm terrified because I'm a first time mom but do you really have to tell me that I'm crazy for trying it? Really how does that help me in any way?

This morning I stopped at got a latte (yes Ghasp, I still drink coffee every now and then) but to the lady who gave me a dirty look while she was leaving and I was going in. Suck it.

If I have to hear from my MIL one more time that my husband (her last and only boy) is  sooooo special and amazing I'm going throw up. Yes, he's amazing and a wonderful husband and son ... but I don't want to hear it every time I see you. And sometimes, he can be really annoying!

Hmmm this actually made feel better. Usually I'm just a lurker but this helped me today.

  • I hate cheesy, cutesy Facebook pregnancy announcements.  And I hate it when people post the "what fruit is the baby this week" updates to their Facebook.  And I also don't need to know what week pregnant you are in each of your FB status updates... "37 weeks pregnant and at the gym!"  "Headed to my best friend's wedding at 17 weeks pregnant!"  I DO NOT CARE.

Made me laugh too!  I'm with you on numbers 1 and 2 -- everyone gets to make their own decisions - stop telling me mine are "a terrible idea" or going to be "the worst pain ever!"

And I totally go through the Sbux drive through to get my occasional latte for that exact same reason :)

People treating me like i've become cripple (no offence to the diabled of course)

but like if i have to carry a bag of laundry my mom is like "Oh don't do that!!"

or when i was standing on a chair and my SIL was like "becareful do you want me to do that?"

sure they are being considerate but really. I'm pregnant.. I didn't lose any limbs and i'm not going to crumple into a little pile of mush on the ground

  • I'll add another one...

STOP FREAKING OUT ABOUT SOFT CHEESE!  The rule is NON-PASTEURIZED cheese.  And have you ever tried to find non-pasteurized cheese at a normal, non-specialty market?  It's practically impossible.  Remove head from ass and eat some feta if the mood strikes you.

  • It drives me nuts that most people on TB seem to take every comment and post so literally. I think there are some things that go without saying and therefore I shouldn't have to write a 500 word comment every time I respond to a post just to explain every angle of my opinion. Evidentally that's not true.

I think it looks ridiculous, and I know I would get a billion of them at my shower if I was having a girl.  I don't mind headbands and bows, but this new giant bow trend is making me crazy.  One of my friends gots her child a shirt that says "the bigger the bow, the better the mommy".  Barf.

Isn't that true for all moms no matter how many they've had? Every birth is different after all. Just because you did the first one naturally doesn't mean you will/can do the second naturally (and vice versa). ETA: I completely agree though. I'm planning to go naturally but with every intention of changing my plan if it feels like more than I can handle.

And, actually, gauche is a much better word for what the ladies are "trying" to convey here.  Also, to the girl who got a latte....  I am so throwing DS in the car and going for a pumpkin pie latte from my fave place.  I EVEN got a freebie coupon at MOPS the other day!  Score!!!  Steph-  I totally get what you're saying.  But also, remember to milk it.  I FULLY intend on not cooking ONE THING for Turkey Day OR xmas OR helping in ANY way.  I will not help with the marathon wrapping on xmas eve.  I will not be doing dishes(sorry, it hurts my belly to lean over counter like that;0), etc.  Selfish?  Yes.  I know.  But I am TAKING that break this year!  LOL

Also, if one more person tells me to stop eating the occasional junk food i am going to scream! I eat healthy and am very active (just did the susan G Komen 3 day 60 mile walk) I think i can grace myself and my LO with a bit of an indulgence every now and then!

If one more person tells me what to expect next because that's what they felt/did/had done when they were pregnant i will punch them! Everyone is different and every pregnancy is different! Get off my case about sh!t!

One more, If I hear one more time that I am not feeling baby moving and its just gas I will lose it! Honestly, i'm 19wks pregnant, i'm feeling baby, i'm not crazy. Also, you are not me, you do not know what i'm feeling nor should you really flipping care that much to argue with me about it. Get off your flipping high horse and come back to the real world. UGH!

I'm thrilled we're having a girl but one of the first things my husband said was "you're not going to put those stupid headbands with the bows on them on her, are you?"  UG, no, I HATE those too!   I think hair accessories of any kind look ridiculous until your child actually HAS hair that is long enough to be held back.

I'm sorry if I don't constantly research food recalls, or watch the news, or keep up with EVERY "psa" food post on TB...but when I heard about the Cantaloupe listeria thing yesterday, I was en route to the grocery store to get me some cantaloupe (anyone else craving whatever fruit their baby "is" that week?)...I'm not going to freak out over it, but I am going to stay away from it!

So I'm sorry if I want to thank the lady who posted about the cantaloupes this morning on the 2 Tri board, as well as call you out for being rude to someone who was literally just trying to help!

Someone woke up on the wrong side of their pregnancy pillow this morning and asked me if I lived under a rock, or was just an idiot! Sooo un-called for - take your vitamins, sweetie, and go back to bed!

  • 1.  I think stressing over birth plans is ridiculous.  Go with the flow.  Don't be a b!tch to your nurses...they are only trying to help you.

    2.  I think bashing cloth diapers, breastfeeding, med-free birth, etc when you haven't experienced it is ridiculous.  Keep you opinions to yourself until you know what you're talking about.

    3.  I hate the "It's a..." posts too. I haven't opened a single one.  I do like the polls though where we can see the % of boys v. girls on the board.

    4.  I'm not looking forward to all the baby shower and nursery decorating talk that's coming up.

    5.  If one more person says "oh, that's ok too" when i tell them we are having another boy, I'm going to scream.  Of course it's ok, you twat.

    6.  I am appalled at some of the names ladies on this and other boards come up with for their kids.  Take some time and think about this!  A name is with a child FOR LIFE and can have an impact on them.  Read Freakanomics of you don't believe me.

And the next time the snarky Starbucks cashier asks if I want a decaf after I order my caramel macchiatto (with extra caramel, thank you very much), I'm going to punch her. Seriously. If I wanted decaf, I would order it.

  • I agree.  These are the most ridiculous looking things in the world.  Looks like garter on your babies head.

Also, I am a boy mom and couldn't be more proud.  DON"T tell me your sorry that we aren't having a girl.  I have a mom, I have a sister, I have two nieces.  I don't need a baby girl to make my life complete.  My two boys are my dream.  I feel sorry  that you can't see past all the pink and princess crap.  You, my dear are the one missing out.

  • One more thing about baby hair styles. If your poor babe doesn't have a ton of hair and you want people to know that they are a girl, please don't scalp them in an attempt to get a tiny pigtail to come out of the top of their head. It gives me a headache just looking at it. Why not just dress them in all pink and be done with it?

Not an unpopular opinion; but having been on these board twice already (yes, I really have no life aside from hanging out with my kids...)- I really think that this group of women is super nice/chill/helpful and friendly. I enjoy coming to the boards; even if it does mean wading through the "I'M HAVING A..." and "I ate CHEESE!" posts. :-)

Totally agreed. Some of the names just make me shudder.

That said, a one-page form, a cheque, and a 15-min court trip can change your name -- it's only for life if you want it to be! If little Faeraey Strudwick Twinklestar Lastname (I seriously had to try HARD to come up with something ridiculous enough that no one would name their kid that) hates their name, they can change it once they hit 18.

  • I am in a really pissy mood today for some reason... Good thing it's Thursday.

    Dear Mom,

Please stop sending me baby name suggestions. Granite for a boy? Please. We already picked our names, and I know you hate them. That's okay. I hate the name you gave me, that I why I changed it legally when I was 18. And if my kid wants to change his or her name, I will not be offended. They can change their name as many times as they like, provided the do the paperwork themselves and pay the court fees. It really won't bother me and I'm tired of you insisting that I'll be a heart broken as you are. We are not the same person, in case you haven't noticed.

Also, I drink coffee, I ride motorcycles, I eat brie and I use the microwave. Look out!

    That's all for now, thanks.
