2nd Trimester

want so badly to feel the baby move....

OK, so I know that I am being impatient and every woman is different, but most of the people on my month board have felt the baby move.  I try to relax at night and feel the flutter or the popcorn sensation, but I don't really feel anything significant enough to say..."that's my baby moving in there".

I am a first timer, so maybe he is moving in there, I just don't know to recognize it.  Crying

I have an appt tomorrow, hopefully he is looking perfect!

Re: want so badly to feel the baby move....

  • It's a definite feeling once the kicks start up...Sort of a quick 'tap-tap-tap'.  There's no denying it or mistaking it for gas bubbles.

  • Do you know where your placenta is located. that does play a part in how early you can feel your lil one. With DD the Placenta was right there in front so i never really got to feel the hard kicks or really see her move. This time with DS it is in the back and being 21 weeks i feel him every where and see him kicking and weirdly well above the belly button. They did mention is is measuring bigger only by a week but still ask your doc if they know. They should know if  you had an early ultrasound. if not your gonna find out at you A/S ultrasound. hang in there your gonna feel that lil one soon and then your gonna wish they would just sit still

  • Trust me I was the same way.I was like when is she going to move then I started feeling the flutters about 3 weeks ago and just last night I felt a real kick.My poor fiance' was trying to feel it from the outside and every time he would put his hand on my belly she would stop lol but with me I had no problem feeling it

I know its frustrating but the baby will move when he or she is ready and trust me you will know when they do and it will put the biggest smile on your face

  • Hang in there! I felt the baby kicking around 21 weeks.  It's worth the wait and is truly amazing!

  • You will get there. I see you're at 17 weeks. At that stage all I could feel was my own pulse when I felt my stomach. I'm at 20 now and I only can feel that pulse- even stronger and then the occasional nudge- might be gas or might be the baby- not sure. I'm hoping by next week I'll feel it for sure.

  • With my DS due to fibriods and an anterior placenta, I could only feel movement if I was lying on my stomach. I was well past 20 wks when I finally felt kicks. This time I can feel the baby moving if I lie on my right side. It is different for everyone.

  • I hear your frustrations! I'm a first timmer as well and STILL waiting for that difinative sign of movement even today at 24 weeks!!  I've had a few strange feelings but nothing that I can feel certain about. Looking forward for tomorrow's perinatologist appt!

  • This is my first time as well, I did'nt feel anything until the end of week 19, and even now in week 20 it's still not consistent.
  • I can tell the difference between gas pains and her moving. It feels totally different to me.Like when I feel gas pressure it actually hurts and when she moves its a fluttering sensation and it never hurts me when she nudges me.I'm almost 21 and a half weeks and a few days ago I started noticing the movements becoming more regular and stronger, where as a couple of weeks before it was irregular and she only moved when I was being very still. Now I can feel her even when I'm moving and last night I felt her very first kick :D but sadly I haven't felt another.I'm sure she will do it again soon

this is how i feel too! i think that i may have felt something but i'm not totally sure as it could be gas or tummy rumbles lol everything is looking good thus far and really don't have a reason to be worried, but it would just be nice to feel consistent movement just to be sure.

  • Don't worry I'm 19 weeks and I don't feel anything either.  I can't wait for it though
  • I haven't felt the baby move. I'm not confident that what i feel is the baby, and until i am, i won't say the baby is kicking. It's early, and some people don't feel it until 20+ weeks. Don't be discouraged. I'm due March 3rd. I know how you feel. But we just need to attempt to enjoy our lives instead of dwelling and maybe time will go faster. Then when we finally do feel the baby, we'll know it and be pleasantly surprised. :) I hope everything looks wonderful at your appointment!
